Hello internet! I want to make Risen more modest by replacing some of the skimpy clothes with normal ones. Feel free to remark upon the ridiculousness of the idea, but when you're done with that, I hope you will tell me how to achieve it! I spent a good while tinkering with Nico's modding tools and reading what I could find, but I'm a bit stupid and may require further guidance.

Which way do you think would be easiest to achieve this goal? (I'm not even sure which of these are possible).

1) Change what clothes are equipped on certain characters.

2) Overwrite immodest meshes with modest ones.

3) Change what mesh is displayed for certain characters (in other games I have been willing to replace all the immodest people with ninjas, if it comes to it).

4) Delete part of the textures so that immodest people are just invisible from their neck to their knees.

5) Something else I haven't thought of?

I'm not sure how to carry out any of these plans, but narrowing it down to what's easiest will give me a starting point. Thanks, friends!

(Even if I didn't mind the immodesty myself, which I do -- I am going on a road trip with mixed company soon and want to be able to play on my laptop in the van without bothering anyone. =)

You already got RisenAUT, right?

You'll need the Risen Lrent Viewer.

2) Overwrite immodest meshes with modest ones.

Download and install GMax (Freeware) and use the XMSH Builder.
But if you want to replace clothing it won't work, cause the XMSH-Builder does only work for static meshes. (It's not possible to change animations!)

4) Delete part of the textures so that immodest people are just invisible from their neck to their knees.

Removing the textures or materials won't help. The mesh just would be shown in one, ugly color
But I think you could delete or rename the mesh

You should change the templates of the skimpy armours to point to meshes like the peasant garb, using the Lrenter.

Yep, I got RisenAUT (though I barely know how to use it yet). Thanks friends! I will try the Lrenter, and let you know of my stunning success/failure.

The easiest way would be to unpack Risen\data\compiled\animations.pak using Risenaut and replace the "problematic" ._xmac files.

For instance if you copy the file animations\_emfx36\Humans\Bodys\Ani_Hero_Armor_Woman_Old._xmac to your %localappdata%\Risen directory and rename it Ani_Hero_Armor_Landlady._xmac, you end up with something like this:

But if you want to replace clothing it won't work, cause the XMSH-Builder does only work for static meshes. (It's not possible to change animations!)

It is perfectly possible to modify dynamic meshes, see obj2xmac.

Yeah, well, I'd rather cover up her head... That's at least something in Risen 2. I guess PB employed somebody else to make the models (finally).

absolutely, the stomach schießscharte(embrasure) didn't bother me half as much as that "on both sides smeshed in jaw" head mesh.

actually i have to admit i find Ani_Hero_Armor_Woman_Old way more appealing than LandLady. nothing against scanti dresses but LandLady just looks strange.

I recommend using the WoP-Upload for the release! If you link the file here, you make sure the download works at any time!
A better solution would be the mod starter. Every mod, except of a few, is available there.
And some screenshots would be nice (modified and default look )

Seems not to work

Ah, sorry, I forgot to check R1 MDS. Already confirmed.

P.S. What version of R1 MDS do you have? I thought that I enabled autoconfirm by default some time ago...
