    [Idea] Gothic merged into Gothic II Gold

    I am wondering if it is technically possible to merge Gothic into Gothic II Gold. If we can use in Gothic II Gold the static mesh of the worlds from Gothic. This way we could "recreate" the npc's, waypoints, etc. from the original Gothic and practically insert the Gothic game as the first chapters of this Gothic II Gold Mod. And the 1st chapter from Gothic II will become the 5th chapter of this mod.

    Advantages?

    - we could use the items from Gothic
    - we could add a later chapter using the mesh of the mining colony from first Gothic, not the one from Gothic II
    - many others

    So.. does anyone knows if this is possible?

    The idea stated by you about porting over Gothic I on Gothic II NotR/Gold platform isn't new. For example, in this business now are engaged mod makers from the "Mighty DWARF" team, developing on G2a platform "StrongHand" modification (earlier version of this mod has been written for G1 platform). Certainly that during porting over there will be complexities at implementation of a magic barrier and a part of absent in G2a engine spells (telekinesis, pyrokinesis, control, etc.).

    Thanks for the link! I've seen the movies from Stronghand, impressive! Looking for a download link right now...

    You are right about the barrier and the spells... I hope somebody will succeed in porting those to G2 engine.

    Techically yes (with the problems Dimus already mentioned). But remember, the game Gothic 1 is still for sale, so you can't release a Mod which includes the whole game, that would be illegal.

    Oauu I looked to the movies of StrongHand and it looks amazing ! I sincerely hope it will be finish and in English too..
    It change the game in mods I did not imagined that can be done.
    Question: The Risen fighting still can not be imported/adapted too?

    Not unless they manage to programme the Risen fighting system into the mod. They can't pull it out from Risen and implement it due to lots of differences between the two engines. Also, they need lots of extra animations for various moves. So, I guess they can't implement the Risen fighting system.

    It will be super-cool to play the storyline from both(merged)...and also add Dark Mysteries...
    It would be like "GOTHIC CHRONICLES"(gothic 1+Dark mysteries+gothic 2+Night of the Raven)...all in one game...
