well this isn`t actually free in classic g2, you still have to pay to learn lockpicking and have a few lockpicks, but in NotR the chest is unlocked and all you have to do is open it and get the armor

when you enter khorinis from the west gate, if you turn left you can see a guard that is keeping you away from the confiscated chests(the one near matteo`s shop)

to get behind the guard you can go behind matteo`s shop and climb the broken wall, then jump on matteo`s shop (this is a bit tricky to do), then jump inside the guarded area and the guard won`t notice you even if you don`t sneak; now you can help yourself to the leather armor and some citizen`s clothings (the clothings are only available in notr)

i know many people already knew this , but i looked at the hardcore gothic thread and i saw Huntsman saying that he was holding on to his farmer clothes until he had gold to spare to get the leather armor from matteo, and i thought to myself 'looks like i could help some people if i post that little glitch'

if this is found useless or has already been posted , feel free to do what you think fit (including deleting the thread)

it's easier to clime the carpenters items ontop of bosper's shop, then jump onto Matteo's store before jumping down into the "guarded area". it's quite nice reward for getting there

All that or you can simply sleep the guard with a sleeping scroll spell from Zuris and go in like a real gentleman. I don't recall how much the sleeping scroll costs but it's quite affordable.

They cost like 200 smackaroos (i cant remember how much exacctly but it wasnt little) i couldnt jump the house so i had to cough up the gold. Its a good investment but its worth it if you cant do it for free that is

The spell is 100 gold. Anyway, I preffer solving the game lik a gentleman, not exploiting problems like this.

I think that easier from that is to make guests to become militia/mercenary/novice and receive a nice armor.

You still need something better for most of the quests before you join a guild. That is only if you rush everything and you decide to join the militia in the first half hour with that guy who's stealling from the paladins.

I always make the guard go to sleep and then rob the chests. Then I sell the leather armor since armor are for sissies. Then I wear the coolest of the citizen clothes and do the quests until I join a guild.

u need to stay in front of that guard and then u need to turn around so he will be on your right or left, as u like, and then just press and hold D or A depending on which side is guard. when u got behid the guard u leave that button (sorry for bad english) and close chating tab. u know its that tab when u are talking to npc. just press end. woala u are behind him and u didnt pay any gold coin. its absolutely free. this bug u can use if u want to go to upper quarter, lord hagen, go near master parlan( i think its his name. its the guy which is guarding the catacombs in monastery). if u dont uderstand then just tell me and i will try to tell u that on better way..

I played notr 23 times and i have discovered it when i was playing for the fifth time!!!
i found caves for dead npcs in all thre areas (in halls of irdorath arent any bodies) , found all three things belonging to migthy allien dwarf etc. etc. etc.

Real men kills the guard, takes the leather armor and refuses to pay Lord Andre (the imposter judge) and live in the forest as a lone wolf only living on the meat you find on creatures.

You also kill Lord Andre starting a chain fight, conquering the city and putting the real judge in charge again, thus creating a thriving city and an army of militiamen making your travel to the Valley of mines easier, Ofcourse this may take some 10-20 years.
