Gothic 1, .ini Problem
Where is my Gothic 1 .ini? I can't seem to find it.
Sincerly,

Well, if I remember correctly, its at the same folder as G1.exe?
Wouldn't it be 8x10^256 times faster to just search your hard drive for the file?
Or just Gothic folder for ".ini"?

"Gothic.ini" is not located in the same folder as "g1.exe", furthermore "g1.exe" is literally fictional. What specifically do you mean? Please be exact next time you post here. Searching for "Gothic.ini" on C: drive returns 0 results. To answer your question it is not faster to search for the ".ini" because searching gives unsatifactory returns.

Your gothic.ini is/should be in the same directory as your gothic.exe: in the 'system' folder under your G1 installation directory: <G1-InstallationDir>\System\Gothic.ini
You didn't tell where you installed it so I can't give you the absolute path.
If you suppress the file extension in windows explorer there will be 3 files named 'Gothic' in that directory. You can identify it via the icon, you can switch the settings of explorer to display the extension, or you can check via the file properties which one is the right one.
If the file is not there, start Gothic; Gothic will recreate it.
If it still isn't there then I assume you have Vista and installed Gothic into the C:\Program Files\... => run Gothic with the 'Run as administrator' option (always, not just now) to recreate the Gothic.ini in the correct place (or search it in your virtual store to copy it over).

Thank you very much TazmanDevil you have solved my problem
I was able to find a file called "Gothic" which windows vista tells me is "Configuration Settings" I suppose this is it even though its not labeled as .ini
I now have a new problem
When I run Gothic as an Admin my save games are unavailable, so that is not good. But I have been able to fix the in-game video faliure after finding the .ini and correcting the video scaling (from 1 to 0). Anyway thanks for getting me this far. You have done me a great service

OK, so lets do the final step and restore your savegames
They are located in the virtual store of your Vista user.
Let's assume you installed Gothic into C:\Program Files\PyranhaBytes\Gothic
C:\Users\<your UserName>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\PyranhaBytes\Gothic
Replace <your UserName> with your Vista user name; the path behind VirtualStore\Program Files corresponds to the installation directory in C:\Program Files.
There you will find a folder named Saves.
Move or copy that folder into your Gothic installation directory; in our example into C:\Program Files\PyranhaBytes\Gothic so you have now a folder named C:\Program Files\PyranhaBytes\Gothic\Saves containing your savegames.

Let me tell you the steps I have done so far.
1. Click on C:
2. Click on "Users"
3. Click on "Andrew"
4. Click on ?? I don't have a "AppData" I do have icons for "Bluetooth Software", "Desktop", "Downloads", "Links", "Pictures", "Searches", "Contacts", "Documents", "Favorites", "Music", "Saved Games" and "Videos".
I would like to thank-you heartily for going the distance with me.

AppData is a hidden Folder, you'll have to change the display options of WindowsExplorer to show you the folder.
In Explorer, select Tools->Folder Options... from the menue bar. In the Tab 'View' Go to Advanced settings and select 'Show hidden Files and Folders' (screenshot: see below).
Then click OK; you should see now the AppData folder.
