    Hello. I red some old treads abaut this but I need some more detailed help... I need the hero to look like a templar from the sect camp. I know that there are guys out there who already achived that thing. I want to use GoMan but it is in german and i can't use it. I had tried the way of exporting and importing the heroes zen file but you know that everi npc says: "Not now!" Please describe me the way how to do that with GoMan. Gothic 1 and 2 are my favorite games so you would do me a great favour. Is it possible to do it in gothic 2 gold edition too, by using the gothic 1 templar models some way??? I am a Hungaryan guy so sorry for the bad english

    Edit:

    One more thing... When I push F2 in gothic 1 in marvin mode the console doesn't appear. Why is that?

    Hello Feri,

    Welcome to Forum!!!

    In order to be able to open console do the following:
    click b (to open character window, maybe different key)
    type marvin
    click b to close character window
    Now in upper left corner should write 'Marvin mode on'
    If it is not, you are not in marvin mode

    Now you can click F2

    Important!
    After you finished with marvin mode:
    click b
    type 42 (with numbers above letters, not the right side number pad!)
    click b
    Now in upper left corner should write 'What was the question?'
    if it is not, you are still in marvin mode.

    This is important, to avoid crashes.

    Otherwise I don't know the answer to your first question.

    And remember:
    All machines work on smoke!
    When smoke gets out of the machines, they stop working...

    hi and welcome to the forum. well, sometimes, even if you do all things correctly, the marvin mode doesen't activate from the first time( probably key-pad problems). You just have to try again and again till it works There's no other choice.

    Thanks for the answers but as I alredy mentioned F2 doesn't work while I'm already in Marvin mode!!! But let's not talk abaut it any more... My first question is wat important for me!

    What exactly you wanna change, the head of the hero?

    GoMan could be possible a way, you'd have to find the hero's texture, change it to your likes, ... then the texture must be converted with the GothicModStarter (Texturen Konvertieren) i guess (not sure if GoMan could do the convert, not used to that program).

    Possible, yes, ... but honestly, i think the effort (you'd have to learn some modding-basics) isn't worth the benefit.

    To give the hero a new appearance you'd have to change his script (Pc_Hero.d), it's defined in the visuals, looks like this:

    So, my hint is: learn modding or forget about it, imho.

    Thanks for the hint! I will try it out right away. I want to change the body texture of the hero to the templars(naked body with cool tatoos). Becouse the hero doesn't look so good in the armour of the templars The head of the hero will be changed as well to be bald and retextured. For me it's worth the effort and those skills may prove to be usefull...

    -I will welcome any further help from anybody!

    Sorry for the double post thing but it's my first time on a forum, I will avoid it from now on

    I found the textures I want to change by Gomen. Exported them whit goman. I've edited them and converted them in to the right format. Now how can I insert them back to the textures.vdf file??? The textures I changed are now in .tex format like:HUM_BODY_NAKED_V4_C1-C.TEX... Any advice?

    At least tell us how to make a VDF file (where that character skin is in) what game automatically uses.

    The VDFS files are only for publishing your mods, ... if the changes does not work with the compiled files, they won't work as an VDFS-file as well, ... in other words, make sure your mod works well before thinkin' of converting it to an VDFS.

    Okay, okay I understand. What do I must do to get the skin showing on hero in the game then?

    And I know how to convert the texture back to .tex format so no problem with that.

    I'm really losing my patience but I'll try hold it a little more.

    That is the most needed thing in modding, ... patience, ... be relaxed,... don't try to do something in a hurry, ... something doesn't work, then try again next day once more, ... re-read a thread, watch once again a tutorial.

    For your prob:
    What do I must do to get the skin showing on hero in the game then?
    Change the texture should work, see above (and above postings), some basic modding knowlege doesn't hurt if you try such things.

    HOW!!!!???????? Of course it should work but HOW? I've tried EVERYTHING I could think of and the bleeding game just won't show me skin.

    You should REPLACE it. ... So, that means, you have the original skin,... that is in some folder, right?! The changed skin must now be copied into the folder you have the original skin from. When you copy it into there, windows should ask you if you want to overwrite the existing file, confirm this.
    Now you have the changed texture in the right folder, start up the game with the mod-starter, make the hook at "Texturen konvertieren" and start up (will take a while).

    Okay now its starting to be more clearer.

    I have already made _WORK\DATA\TEXTURES\_COMPILED\HUM_BODY_NAKED_V4_C1-C.TEX folders with this skin into Data folder (where vdfs are) but windows didn't asked me to overwrite anything.

    Oh and when I start "GothicStarter_mod.exe" there you can choose GothicGame.ini or defaultmod.ini to start the game. I must
    choose GothicGame.ini right? And there's some kind of parameter thing too, do I need to enter something there? And if I must then what/how exactly?

    Do you have the mod-kit installed?

    Yes.

    No, don't enter there anything.

    Aye. I have the mod kit.

    Ok seems like the only thing I needed to do was just selecting a TEX file with goman in texture.vdf and select "Ersetzen (durch Datei)" and then open a TEX file outside the vdf file and VOILA! SKIN REPLACED!!!! Weeeeeeeeeeee......

    That's cool. It seems like you are more capable of doing such things than I. I changed the textures but the bald templar head texture looks very stupid whit the ponytail of the hero. How can I change the heros head to be a templars head(bald)??? I mean the model...

    Good to be the lucky newb hero who tells "how to do the skin replacing exactly" where admins, moderators and alike have failed explaining it. (Sorry no offense meant but that's the way how it came out)

    Anyways.. I haven't even tried changing hero's head mesh yet but what I DID change was painting those cool face mark(s/ings) from sect guys faces on hero's face. I think I'll soon try again painting these Cor Angar's face markings on hero's face but last time when I started to paint them on I painted them too high on hero's face.

    Btw I have already tasted the skinning/modding with this Pirates of the Caribbean Build Mod.
