I have the GF 7800GS, I had this problem but when I put the 1.09 patch it was gone though I had to put the setting at lower detail.
Try and disable the depth of the field.
EDIT:
Oh yes and the pixel shader to 2.0

I'm not sure what you mean by depth of the field so I turned everything down... and it still doesn't work. Is there no other solution?
I just really want to know whats stopping my game from loading...all it is getting stuck on a certain part as I mentioned before. I can still hear the background music and such.
Oh to make it more clear I'm trying to load my quick save not just any other save. The reason I'm only trying that is because I've spent many hours and progressed really far, only to just restart and try it again.
If that is my only option I might as well give up and stop playing the game...

Did you reinstall it?

Loading problems
I noticed, on my system, that while the load meter is trying to move, it does not until the pictures above it change. It is just a thought, but is there a way to stop the pictures? Maybe they have a little to do with slowing things down.
Just go for it !!

I have the same problem as you, the weird thing is, that I saved in Montera too and then it crashed, must be something wrong with that town, now I gotta start over!

The save-bug was solved with the patch 1.09. You'll have to start over again, just use the newest patch (1.12) and to be on the save-side (i do this in every game), save often and in different slots (use the "real" save from time to time ("real save" = "ESC" -> "save")).

Well after reinstalling the game and installing the latest patch it seems the problem worst as my game will just get stuck on the Gothic 3 banner. Now I Can't even get into the main title screen...
Man I thought patches was suppose to help...now I can't even play the damn game.
Will buying a whole new Gothic 3 help maybe something wrong with the data on my disc? I could return my game for a whole new one...

Strange,... only an idea: Delete the gothic3-folder in your "my documents" folder (back up / copy & paste it to maybe the desktop to save your save-games), then try to start the game.

You bought it once, that should be enough,... i doubt that the "error" is on the disc, can you test it on an other computer?

Um wtf is going on with my game.
Do I need more memory to play the game or what?

And what did you do? Sorry, but think of it, we are not sitting next to your PC!
Check the sticky FAQ, the dualcore-hint maybe helps?!
Here a german user uploaded a sharedbase.dll, you could try to exchange it:

2GB are enough, that is not the problem.
