Rookie
how do you use the amnesia spell?
I'm wanted for murder in Geldern. I have 12 amnesia spells or so, but they don't seem to do anything. I equip the spell, wait till the orc is highlighted, then cast it. It never seems to do anything. He still wants to kill me as if he hasn't forgotten a thing. Is there a trick to using amnesia spells? I have full mana, the mana goes down about 50%, but no effect on the orc. What gives?

I didn't test that spell,... but like you describe it, it sounds like a thing for the "to-do-list" from the developers, means: sounds like a bug.
-
Same here... I tried 3 times with a rebel... he was knocked out to the ground... put the spell on him and he is resurected that moment instead waiting 10 secs or something to recharge his health to half. And of course he didn't forget.

Yes I had the same problem, that is a really useful scroll but it does not work unfortunately.
-
Worked for me, but I have that prob.with the "sleep" spellscroll
-
this spell not buged(i think)
i try him on difrent enemies
when you use them on orc or elite rebel they dont work, the rebel/orc just stand and say "i will kill you"
but when you use it on some stuped alchemiest its work
-
The spell works. But not all times. If the enemy/NPC is turned red on you it doesn't work. But if he is only orange it works. That's one of the usefulness of those colours.
-
well, my rebel was orange and still didn't work.

Well I will check again. I used that spell only for some NPC which I had to fight and after that they turned orange. I don't know about all nonNPC characters or murdering things because I didn't use it that time.

I tried using the spell on Ingvald (or whatever his name was).. you know the master smith in the hammer clan... because I took his teleporter stone and he considered it stealing. So now half of Nordmar has gone orange on me, and the spell doesn't seem to work. He only tries to kill me instead. I can still talk to all the people and do all the quests, but the spell seems rather useless. I've had no problem with the sleep spell tough. Works perfectly.

I remember from g2 that the amnesia must be put on unaware npcs to work. if they see you, they get mad...
am I correct in this? I don't remember well.

with weaker enemies you have a higher chance
-
Hmm.. maybe I should try it on him when he's sleeping or something. Worth a try, I've got a whole bunch of the scrolls since I never use them.
As far as I can remember there wasn't a amnesia scroll in g2. This probably means that my memory is absolutely wrong I was more into sword figthing and rune magic in g2.

There was, but it wasn't "amnesia", I can't recall .. how .. was called, it was for sure, same effect

Yes, I got it from that alchemist in khorinis city who wanted to test it on him.
-
Oh yeah, now I remember. Not the name of the spell though.
Edit: It was called Oblivion Not the most explanatory name, but the spell worked at least.

It worked for me on a rebel near the excavation site (Trelis).
Question to the people who claim the spell doesn't work: how much ancient knowledge do you have? I have 120 or so. And over 200 mana.
-
I had over 100 a.k. at that time...
Why, it's supposed to work bad if you don't have enough? I'd expect not to work at all if you don't have requirements

*cough*,... i doubt that he want you to test it on him, but on somebody. (Valentino was the perfect victim for that to combine 2 quests).

Other spells become also stronger with more AK, so maybe it could work like that, but dunno.
-
It is stated somewhere in the game (manual, spellbook screen? don't remember) that the effectivity of certain spells (maybe all of them?) depends on the hero's AK.
But it looks to me that 100 AK is more than enough to get a satisfactory result, so I don't know.
Try this: add 200 more AK points to your character (using the console) and see if the spell works, just for testing purposes.
