I would like to present to you a newly released, standalone modification called Arkona.
Arkona is a Czech-developed modification available in English, with both subtitles and a full voiceover.
The development was supported by developers and artists from many different countries. I am very grateful to everyone who participated.
I would especially like to thank Polish modder Damianut, without whom the release would have been hardly possible, as he helped me deal with countless technical issues and conducted extensive tests of the modification.

All of the NPCs are new characters, but there are several references to Gothic original story line
One joinable faction - militia . Besides militia, you will also meet farmers, bandits and several independent NPCs.
Installation instructions:
- Gothic 2 NotR
- Player Kit + Resource Patch (can be installed from Resource Manager)
- Union 1.0m + SystemPack 2.0 (can also be installed from Resource Manager)
- Copy contents of the downloaded modification archive (.zip) to your Gothic folder
- Optionial: D3D11 or other plugins and enhancements
Our hero is Gerrin, an ordinary citizen of Khorinis.
The events in Arkona unfold after the Nameless one sails away from the island and Khorinis is slowly overwhelmed by the orc hordes. The city makes its last stand, however the paladins are heavily outnumbered.
As Gerrin sees it, he knows he doesn't have many options left. He can either die in battle, but he is not an experienced warrior. The most likely case is that he would fell to slavery for the orcs. With that in mind, he decides to flee from the island on a small fishing boat. Rather die on a sea than be a slave to those filthy creatures, he thinks.
Exhausted and dehydrated, he finally reaches land. It is not the mainland as he had hoped. Instead he ended up on an island he has never heard of before. And there our story begins.
What secrets lurk inside the halls of the old shrine deep in the dark woods? What or who are the militia men and the bandits looking for? Why some people from the mainland went to this place intentionally in the first place?

Damianut is also one of two creators of a mod called Gladiator, which you could have seen introduced on this forum as well and thanks to him I got to know BadamB, who then became the second developer for Arkona.
Gothicz.net modders - Auronen, Fawkes, Darkenius, Kaiser - those experienced developers have helped me on many occasions as well as I was learning modding or when I encountered a technical problem I couldn't handle.
But my problem is after i put the files from the zip folder into my gothic folder and when i start the mod with the gothic starter, it loads everything. Looks great! but when i press start a new game, i got a game crash:
it shows this error message from Shrine_Fire1 until Shrine_Fire4 when i press OK. But what did i wrong?
I have all installed what you wrote in the description. I got union, the playerkit, the resource patch and the system pack but i dont know why
edit1: ok i notice now, when i start the GothicStarter.exe, the title in the window it has at the end "(mod)". and i checked it with the GothicStarter_mod.exe, it says also "(mod)" in the title. Maybe this information could help

Remember about installing Union 1.0m.
As you will reinstall, you can unpack file from this archive to "Gothic II\System\Autorun" directory. If "Autorun" doesn't exist, create it.
And try, whether it will work.
If not, unpack file from this archive (and don't remove previous file) to "_work\Data\Textures\_compiled". If "_compiled" doesn't exist, create it.

Yes it worked! I did reinstall the whole gothic game and after that i installed the whole plugins and so. Put again the files from the zip file, started the game and it works
I spend one hour already in this mod and it looks good. Fantastic voices, good voiceover and makes fun. I am very excited what is still to come
Ich bin dabei, die Mod ins Deutsche zu übersetzen. Wenn das fertig ist (noch diese Woche denke ich), dann kann man die Mod inklusive Übersetzung auch auf Spine hochladen, wenn die Ersteller der Mod damit einverstanden sind. Mit einem Google- Patch würde ich das noch nicht empfehlen.
I am somehow stuck with the quest 'Hondurs replacement'.
I already tried giving him 2000 gold, and beating him, and the other options.
But there is no option afterwards and I can talk to noone. I also did all the other quests from the miltia, farmers and bandits.

Nevermind, Oblivion did the trick.

The gatekeeper only can be killed by a special scroll from Railan.
Before that you have to check the grave behind the crypt and find a book. If you have already found the book earlier open it again and a piece of paper with a notice should be in your inventory. Read the paper and then talk to Railan.
Ich hänge derzeit im Spiel. Hab 3 Quests offe: Katharsis, Die Untersuchung und die Untoten. Bei keiner gehts weiter. Auch nicht im Logbuch. Ich denke, wie sich das anhört, dass man bei Katharsis mehrere Leute befreien muss, nicht nur diese 2 Paladine vor der Kryta. Allerdings weiß ich nicht wo diese weiteren Seelen sein sollen. Kann mir hier jemand helfen oder gibts eine Komplettlösung?
