I have the English version of Gothic 2. So, if I install a German patch, will it change the speech and text to German without messing up the game? And if I install "Night of the Raven" German version onto an English Gothic 2, will it work?

For the addon: all the addon speech is in German. Other still in English. And if I remember correctly, there is some special procedure before you can install German Notr onto English G2 classic.

Patch: Don't know exactly, but I guess, it'll change the speech text into German, if the patch is created to fix some speech text etc.

So you want to make the english version to the german one?

If so...then i hope you have the original version cause otherwise it won't work and this thread will surely be closed.

-Download the german 1.28.0.0 exe version
-Download and install the 1.30 patch

From this point on you should be able to play the game with german subtitles. As for speeches that's not possible because they are very big(most of the game) and it would be somehow illegal.

If you want to install the german addon then the speeches from the addon will be german and the subtitles too but the speeches from the G2 will stay english(quite a weird mix but non-germans had to play the addon with english G2 speeches and subtitles but with german addon speeches) .
After you install it then download and install the Patch 2.6 for the addon and enjoy the game

Isn't there a problem, when you start the German Notr installation, it checks the G2 directory and detects, that the original game is not the German one?

Nope. As far as i know the Notr installation checks for the version of .\system\Gothic2.exe

If he will have installed the 1.30 de patch(wich includes the 1.30.0.0-german version engine) then the addon will install there.
And that 1.30 de patch also includes the DAEDALUS scripts compiled and the output units(subtitles). Since it's a german patch those subtitles and scripts are german ones. From here he can play G2 with german subtitles.

But the 1.30 de patch requires the 1.28.0.0 engine version(Gothic2.exe) and that's why i gaved him the link from the german part
