[Article] JoWood to be sold until june at the latest
The insolvency administrator of the game publisher JoWood hopes to sell the whole company in one piece until the end of june.
"We are on it, searching for options. Probably it will come to a sale of the company as a whole, which is the goal", Helmut Platzgummer told the Austrian Press Agency (APA) on thursday. However, there are no parties with a concrete interest at the moment.

well yea ,they better sell the company while they can....and then run as fast as they can
-
I wonder what that means. Will JoWooD just get a new name with new investors and continue its misdeeds?

Or perhaps keep the same name, but have a different owner. I hope it won't come to this. I mean, who would be willing to invest that amount of money in a company on the edge of bankruptcy? Let's hope they'll rot.

An owner is bound to give it money, or close it altogether.

Yes, but my question is, who would buy a company which is facing bankruptcy?

One that holds the rights to a potentially lucrative game series? Several people/companies.

Aren't there enough publishers to work with if you want to develop a profitable game? Why resurrect a junk like JoWooD?

It's not the name of Jowood itself that caused all the mayhem,it's its employees.Maybe the new owner will be different

Exactly. An owner (or the board of directors itself?) that is smart enough to realise that there is money to be had from hardcore games. But that is wishful thinking on our part.
Jowood tried to mimic EA,Activision and the rest of the big boys by catering their piece of shit game to the casual market. As we all now, not only did they not profit from the aforementioned market, they lost whatever was left of the already dwindling fanbase (kinda what happened with Bioware and DA 2, only on a much larger scale).
Why, oh why couldn't they haven't followed in the steps of, let's say, Paradox Interactive or Creative Assembly. They are god-tier publishers/developers, yessss sir.

Even if all JoWooD employees are changed, the reputation of the company remains the same. I for one would never buy another game labelled JoWooD, no matter who runs the company.

Well than you, sir, do not understand the way of redemption.
The company can be resurrected if they develop one hell of a game. And than keep up the good work.

First of all, JoWooD is not a game developer, but merely a publisher. They only pay the ones who develop the game. I doubt they will ever be capable of paying a developer who is capable of making a very good game, especially now when they're almost bankrupt. They had pure dumb luck when they hired PB and published Gothic 2, but apart from that they made only shitty or at least mediocre games. They had one chance with PB, and they blew it. Therefore they now deserve their fate.
