The Czech website gothicz.net published an interview with Mike Hoge, co-founder of Piranha Bytes. The interview is mainly focussed on Gothic and the development of the series back in the day. But we also learn a bit about the Gothic rights and that Mike seems to be getting bored of the fantasy setting and wants to move to something different. Even Risen 2 is too much "old school" for him. Of course, the personal feelings of one developer are no guarantee that the next game after Risen 2 will be - let's say - a sci-fi opera. But perhaps we can assume that whatever PB will do next, Mike will try to push it away from the classical fantasy as best he can. In the end, the people with the money decide. That means the publisher first and indirectly, we, the gamers, second.
