A new 3d model... not really, afaik.

Static meshes (i.e. swords) can be implemented, animated meshes (armors) not.

Nope, you can make an armor, move and animate in 3dsmax, BUT you will not be able to implement it into g3, that's the problem, no exporter (from 3dsmax to g3) for such data.
