Can't wait to see this available for download !
Nobody asked for life to deal us with these bullshit hands we're dealt . We got to take these cards ourselves and flip them ... don't expect no help.
Time goes by too fast!
We're so occupied with fixing things, getting rid of bugs, straigthening inconsistencies and sorting things out that we nearly forgot about documenting all our work and present it to you. But as I said - only nearly!
For that reason you'll get a new load of screenshots and information today. We want to share with you some improvements we did to the game engine and which specifically polish the graphics. Click the images to enlarge them.
This image shows you a newly added effect, the "Chromatic Dispersion". This new effect is used to make the water even more realistic. Of course this can best be seen while in motion, but this screenshot (on which the effect has been increased for demonstration) should give you a good idea. It's turned on automatically when using Shader Model 3.0.
In this screenshot you can see the improved and softened shadows. Especially while moving you will clearly see that the hard edges of the shadows have been replaced by smooth transitions.
And here's another screenshot from a cave guarded by nasty mobs.
As it was St. Nicholas Day yesterday and we are in a generous mood we'll also add another entry to the FAQ - although this question has not been asked before.
- Question: The patch is going to be internationally distributed - does that mean I will be able to choose the ingame language?
Answer: Indeed we've changed the system in a way that instead of a split-up string database including all the ingame texts we are now using a complete database. For us this is preferable because administration and distribution will be quite easier - for you this means that you may freely select the subtitle language ingame. English speech with Chinese subtitles? No problem!
Holy shit !!!
The cave schreenshot is just awesome, unbelievably atmospheric and Gothic style.
Sometimes I think that you are the best developers for Gothic, if only u had made forsaken gods.
You know what you should do ?
Give the hero his old looks back, the one from Gothic 3 "Vanilla", it looked esy better than what they did to him in Forsaken(by the)Gods.
and any news about date release?
No, except old information about 4th quarter of 2010, i.e. sometimes in december 2010.

Not really yet. Some "cliffs" came up which we have to handle with.

But we are also testing the patch with officials from JoWooD.
Again I'll say it's good to hear you guys are getting compensated for your hard work. And overall what you're doing sounds great.
Sadly I'll never know. I'll never play it. That would require buying FG and that would put $$$ in JW's pocket. And I refuse to do that.
So I'll say good luck with the project; hope it all goes well and those who have FG will finally be able to play and maybe even enjoy the game.
Hi, the patch will correct the errors of translation into Spanish?
We'll try to fix such errors as much as we can.

One of the greatest ideas in the whole thread. +1

It would be better if they gave him the looks from G2, but it's kinda hard. But there are a few meshes in the g3-files which look like the hero in g2.

This patch will be the greatest Christmas gift .... I love you !
best wishes !!!!!

It was AIMED like that, that's right, but it was never a definitive release date. That's, like always, was "when it's done".

I think that Ralf "Hans Trapp" Schulz has told more than clearly:

Yes, indeed, they intended to release this year.

From what I can gather, they ran into some unexpected, technical difficulties.
It's me, the Nameless Hero! You might know me from games like Gothic, Gothic 2 or Gothic 3!
Unfortunately I need to bring some bad news today, so I'll be straightforward here: The patch is not going to be released this year!
Before you start yelling "Oh crap!", "Beliar!" or "S#%$!?ß#!" let me tell you, this actually is good news! The Community Patch Team takes all the time necessary to create a proper patch fixing as much as possible and which lets you finally play the game. This needs time! But the more time it takes, the less bugs you'll find in the game. If THAT is no good news!
Actual plans say that the patch will be release in Q1 2011.
Of course they're not going to leave you out in the rain, therefore they've sent me this wonderful wallpaper package with several screen resolutions. That's no ingame shot, it's art, created by your Michelangelo ArthusofKD!
Here's an example of that package:
The full package can be downloaded here:
Your Nameless Hero!
The Community Patch Team wishes you a very happy Christmas, celebrate with your families, enjoy the time overeat yourselves, and have a very great start into the new year 2011!
While I'm saddened by the fact that Forsaken gods won't be my holiday RPG this year, I'm sure that I speak for at least most of us when I say: Take your time. It is better that you release a good patch then an ok patch, even if it means that we have to wait several more months.
Oh, and those wallpapers are amazing!
