[G2] Creating new meshes and textures?
Edit: i've now figured out how to convert textures and meshes. So far i've done new grass that it 3x the density of the normal grass and in 1024x1024 resolution. I've also replaced all the leaves textures in the game with higher quality ones.
My biggest problem with replacing meshes is that i don't know the mesh names. Let's say i want to replace the pine tree (i already have several finished ones of much higher quality than the default trees). Is there some way i can see what the meshes are called, in-game (through the console)? I've gone through all meshes called *tree" in meshes.vdf, can't fint it..
The location of the new meshes, should they (.3ds) all be placed in Gothic II\_work\Data\Meshes?
Is there a viewer for the meshes (once unpacked) ?
Some pics of the progress:
New grass with various plants 3x density of the default grass, new tree texture.
New skies.
New Skies / moon.

A doubleclick in the spacer should give you some infos.

Place them where the other meshes are placed and you should be fine.
There is a scipt which defines which folders are read, but that's not really necessary if you just place them where the others are.
Nice work so far.

Any special texture(s) or model you think need updating (that should be prioritized)?
New rye:

After.

Do you make these from scratch?

Could you perhaps mix the two? Keep the look of the second one but add the density of the first one. That would be awesome...together with all your other work too.

Here's how it looks with twice the density: http://piclair.com/data/o0m63.jpg
Faby: yes ofcourse.

Faby: yes ofcourse.
I meant... Do you use anything as a basis? Or do you add a layer of colour and modify it a lot then add another, etc?

I use photos as a base for the textures and most of the time i tweak the colors in Photoshop and sometimes color match the photo to the texture its going to replace (otherwise it can look out of place). If you mean the rye specifically, then yes i've added several layers.

Yeah, that's what I was asking. Thanks for the fast reply, and once again, great work there.

To clear up any confusion; i've re-registred with my old username which i've used for years in the Morrowind community.
A request:
Does anyone got a save when you are in the old world (saved with the latest community patch)? Would be great if you could send it to me (vurt72 at gmail.com). It would help a lot with my modding..
Also, does anyone know of a .TGA to .TEX converter? The water textures won't compile, just the first texture in the animated sequence is converted to .tex, so i think this has to be done manually.
The mod will focus on the flora and landscape (including new skies and water). I probably won't touch things like walls or interiors etc (I might do other mod packs though that includes such things).

You do a very good job there, mister!
... and btw.: cool nick, reminded me of a try to put vurt in my first mod, was canceld back then because of the missing feathers in g2. ^^

First of all, great job, man, i hope you will finish the texture pack soon.
Regarding your request:
1.by latest community patch u mean ICP 2.1?
2. is there a problem if i create the savegame with the console, and not by normal story (like play the game until i reach the point to go to VoM)?
-
I just found out it was possible to use the console to cheat myself to different places, thanks anyways
Night sky in the old world 1
Night sky in the old world 2
Rainy Night sky
The mod should be finished sometime next week i believe, can't make any promises though.

Until i find a .TGA to .TEX converter i can't change any surface that is animated. The game will just compile the first texture in the sequence for some reason so i have to do it manually.
