Not really a secret, but somehow I managed to play this game almost 10 times without ever running through Kyle's cabin.

You can get past Henry at the pirate camp for free. When you meet Skip in Khorinis you can go to Baltram and get the shipment from him to give to Skip. Instead of giving the shipment to Skip in Khorinis you can wait until you get to Jharkendar and use it along with the other excuses(such as clearing the bandit tower) to get into the camp. If you do them all you get in for free.
-
That's a good idea but you can just go up to the bandit tower to the left and jump over the ridge. That's what I always do.
-
don't you miss some xp that way
-
Yeah IIRC I got quite alot of XP, it was around 100-500XP.
-
Was that sarcasm? Cause last time I finished the game I was level 57 with about 840,000 XP. 100-500 XP is nothing. Mind you, that is not how I think in game, in game I kill every single meatbug .

I thought I knew all the secrets of Gothic 2, but discovered a new location on my most recent playthrough. Love it when that happens.
I was down in Lester's valley in the second chapter, with my bow drawn, to check if anything new had spawned there. Suddenly I got a boar in my target. Turns out it was unreachable, on top of a ledge far above me. I then discovered that I could access that area by dropping down on a ledge behind Cavalorn's camp. After killing the boar on the ledge, I found a path through some shrubbery that lead to a large area filled with lizards and some goblins. There were a bunch of scrolls there, and some magical jewelry, if I recall correctly. Incidentally, you can also access this area by climbing on top of the rocky entrance to the first cave, closest to Xardas' tower. Perhaps you've all known about this though.

I mean big considering what you have to do, just go to Baltram get a package and keep it. That beats having to go and kill a dragon snapper.

I found that area early on but, well, let's say the creatures were over my head so in later playthrus, I save it. I think there are likely areas that I have never found since I moved on to III (and probably a bunch in III, too). It IS way cool when one stumbles into a new area. It doesn't do anything, but did you find a way to get behind the fence in II) where the swamp camp was in I? Also, if you ever play I again, take a swim behind the swamp camp to find a second way in to another area that requires a key (I believe).

Do you really have to keep it? Its been a while since I played II, but I don't remember doing that or paying Henry. Seems there were three things needing done (the tower, bringing meat, and something else (maybe saying you did this for Capt Jack?)).
-
to get in free you must do everything, including Baltram's shipment

And in that stage of the game, 500 XP "for free" is a pretty nice thing. And saving money. Gotta remember to try this trick on my next playthrough.

Oh yeah I recall that area. I don't remember finding any goblins there though. Only a bunch of lizards, 2 rats and 2 boars. And an amulet of enlightenment. I went there just yesterday on my hardcore playthrough, but I only went to kill 2 meatbugs and take a scroll, I didn't kill boars and lizards or took the amulet cause it was too risky.
There is a secret passage in VoM, near the bridge in front of old camp. In some mod of G1 you can find a judge robe there, don't remember which mod.

Just checked it there now, I only got 100XP. Still though good enough I suppose and you get in for free.
The initial price is 500GP. Getting rid of the bandits brings it down to 300GP. Baltram's shipment, the meat and the woodcutters report about the trees bring it down by 100GP each down to 0. I only found this out on my last playthrough and I know this has been mentioned in this thread many times but this game is full of secrets.

I found it by climbing over the cave entrance of the first bandits you encounter in the game, then exploring that area some more.

not sure if it was mentioned here before, and it is not a secret basically, also I haven't checked in the game but found this info somewhere:
I was always wondering what is so special about 'Scratched silver bowl' which you can find somewhere in khorinis (can't remember now) and if you have it in your inventory . never experienced this so this is new to me after so many gameplays

I made up the one about Nadja so don't bother with it
The closest thing you get to a permanent stat boosting potion from that is an STD!
Also I found out my 2nd play trough that you can meet Ur'Shak the English Speaking Orc in Gothic 2. Is that true?
-
On my last HC run (well, fail) I found out about that orc that spawns behind you after you open that chest in a cave near new camp (I always overlooked that cave)
-
@ eSPee:
Yes, it's true. You can meet Ur-Shak again in a 4th chapter near the Fajeth's mine. But he will be a friend until he knows that the hero killed Hosh-Pak.
@ Zeri0n:
A minor correction: opening of this chest causes a spawn of the 4 black goblins and 1 orc warrior outside this cave.

first time I've experienced that - Orc's voice scared me s**tless, felt like it was really behind me
that is what I most miss in all mods for gothic - more unexpected events, triggered/hidden traps, etc- similar to this re-spawn (y)
