with shadow beasts / fire devils (or whatever), you can just swing left and right without stopping and if you get into the correct rhythm the beasts simply can't hit you
-
I believe it's the Frost Dragon who says something like this:
"Muahahaha you can never hope to defeat my master! In order to do so you would need... a good weapon, the best armor available to your guild, and... four friends! Yes so you see, it would be nigh impossible haha!"
I exaggerate of course, but that's the gist of it, and it's a bit contrived.

Gorn charging ahead and dying very easily at the bridge.

Thx, KGS, I only killed a Shadowbeast once, when I found out they can climb the stairs of temples :O
I pushed him towards the stairs, and smacked him with left-right. But I do need to have them locked, otherwise they back off and get free and start attacking again (I can handle 2 hits from a Shadowbeast atm, then Im dead - Or 1 fireball from Lizard, but then I die cuz of after-effect)
Arcadia - A click and win tale

Fire Devils are actually difficult to kill because they have all those particle effects on them which makes the game lag quite alot even on a powerful computer. I've only ever been able to kill them by fighting them then running away, drinking a potion then coming back to finish him.
-
What I do to kill shadowbeasts efficiently is to attack them until they back up near a wall. I can then just keep attacking them until they die. If I keep the rhythm right, they will never attack, but will just back up against the wall
-
i think you could kill them without getting hit even without a wall but i am not sure, it was a long time ago and i might have done just that
-
Yes it is,but it is safer with a wall

That the Undead Dragon dies in 2 shots in Vanilla.
Just cast the Kill Undead spell.

well, for me even in notr undead dragon is usually easier to defeat than that black magician which you encounter just before him.

Play "Gothic 2 heights of power" (HoP mod, I don't know if I named it right), UD there is hardcore. If I am not mistaken, his "fireball" spell is remade and deals much higher damage

played it twice, didn't have problems either. as far as I remember in hop I had incredible stats quite early due to reduced LP spending for skill points. but I might be wrong..
biggest challenge yet was mod Returning 1.1 where some of spell scrolls very powerful and useful in g2notr and oher mods where useless for me in some more difficult cases

Also the Infinite Mana Bug?
If you're a paladin that means free healing as well.

yes, it is true that you get high stats pretty much fast and easy but you must admit, orcs were tough there, and dragons too. They empowered them significantly
-
that's true! that is a good thing! empowering dragons imho should be a 'must option' in every mod for g2

I find it annoying that in the expansion they changed the rusty sword so that new characters can't wield it. In classic Gothic 2 you'd find one in Lester's valley and that would have been your first real sword in the game. In NotR it's just a useless rusty sword and you randomly get a 30 dmg knife handed to you on the way to town. Oh, and the easy ways into the guilds were totally unnecessary seeing as that cheapens one of the best sections of the game. An overhaul of the normal paths into the guilds or one or two new quests for each would have been better.

QFT. Kinda struck me as a (somewhat half-assed) nod to the "Hey I played this game 536732 times already, I just wanna see the addon world"-crowd, giving them easy access to it.
-
well, if you go magician, you just save 1000 gold
if you go mercenary, you still have to see dexter instead of doing your test and do all the other stuff
if you go militia you just do one random quest, but joining the militia is ridiculously easy anyways
so i think there is no real change
-
By the way why is the expansion called Night of the Raven anyway? What do ravens have to do with Raven and what does the night refer to?
