Gave up reading "The Wrath of Grapes" after reading about half of it. It wasn't bad, it was just the wrong book at the wrong time.

Anyway, yesterday I've finished reading Machiavelli's "The Prince"

    [Bild: 830078.jpg]

Can't really comment on it because I don't know from where to begin. Some people called Machiavelli an "atheist pig" or "the teacher of the tyrants", while others admired his work believing he was trying to awake the people by telling them how unworthy they were to a tyrant. One thing is for sure: whether his work was completely or partly satirical, it was based on realism. A tyrant could easily take advantage of his evil but genius methods to come to power, while at the same time, people could find so many reasons why they should not allow a tyrant to rule them. Anyway I enjoyed reading it.

Edit: A big plus is the use of plenty of historical examples to support his opinions. Learned a lot about 16th century Italy.

    I'm currently reading -
NCERT Physics for Class XI - Part 1
NCERT Chemistry for Class XI - PArt 1
    NCERT Mathematics for Class XI
NCERT Hornbill, Maincourse book for English in Class XI
NCERT Snapshots, Supplement Reader for English in Class XI

Some of the worst stuff one can ever read - especially the two for English.

Wait, you didn't mean the books for school, did you?

I recently dug out a little volume of Wodehouse to read, though I don't get much time for entertainment.

Yeah, I'm very slow at reading books, the key is to documentate about just everything that there is related to that book, I mean watching lots of videos, reading articles, other books and things related to the book you read

That one of my readings currently. It's more a collection of the best quotes from his past books. Perfect for 'slow reader' or 'multi-tasking reader'.

I loved the book. I believe Machiavelli had a lot of guts to write such a study in his age.

Finished with The Vampire Lestat and moved on to The Queen Of The Damned. Not as good, but I figured I wanna read it again after more than a decade so I remember how the original story was wrapped up. I also wanted to give it a second chance to see if I like it better now.

I'm reading Green Berets from Miklós Szabó for the third time. It's a very interesting book about special units and spying and that kind of stuff.

More historical than fantasy. The only thing fantasy is that the names are different. [Asharites = Islamists, Jaddites = Christians, etc]

I was looking for a romanian translation of this book for quite some time now, as the publishing company didn't reprint it in years. Still, I managed to get my hands of it, and I find it a very interesting reading, much above my expectations.

Well, some say it's the second best seller worldwide, the first one being, of course, The Bible.

    All the best, k.

Only the series. And even then the Quotations from Chairman Mao and the Koran sold more.

I'm not all that in discussing the matter (it's irrelevant to the book content itself), but according to the same sourse, this may be the actual reason for the numbers stated:

Times Online on Mein Kampf: "Although about ten million copies of the book had been distributed by the end of the war – every newlywed couple in the Third Reich received a copy – it can now be found only in secondhand bookshops, where it can be legally sold providing there is no swastika on the cover." (25 April 2008)

Also, let's not forget that the data may vary, from source to source accordingly. Nevertheless, the book is indeed an interesting reading.

Nice. Even if it's narrated in first person and it's pretty linear, I can't leave it.
