K big problem here.
Just installed Gothic 3. Trying to install 1.74 patch I get,

C:\Program Files\Gothic III\Data\Lightmaps.pak

An error occurred while trying to copy a file:
The source file is corrupted

Click retry to try again, Ignore to skip this file, or Abort to cancel installation.

If ignore, more error's appear...

Added all patches I could find.
Reinstalled the game few times.
Re-Downloaded the patch few times.
All day I just keep searching for a solution.
The game works but only start screen, cant press new game...

No need for that. You only need patch 1.74, it contains all the previous patches.

You have the retail disk or an online version (don't know for sure, it might matter)?

Try to uninstall the game and manually delete any leftovers. If you have multiple partitions, try to install it somewhere else than the default C: drive.

Also tested on online version same... cleaned my reg... everything that has something with gothic...

Uninstall the game. Delete the leftover files. Install TuneUp Utilities and run the One Click Maintenance. Reboot. Install game. Install directly the latest patch. Should work...

Have been using Tuneup for two years... already did that.
Also defreagmented my reg files, did not help...
Installed fresh copy in to another partition still same...

Installer says about corruption of source file Lightmaps.pak. Maybe your downloaded copy of Community Patch is corrupted? Try to verify its md5 checksum (see first post in this thread) or download Inno Setup Unpacker utility and unpack this file manually:

innounp -x "Gothic_3_Community_Patch_v1.74_Int_Full.exe" {app}\Data\Lightmaps.pak

Or you doesn't have sufficient rights to replace files in the Gothic III\Data folder? Try to install Community Patch as administrator.

I hate this hate game. but I can't play gothic 1 or 2 because I have
Nvidia Geforce GTX 260.
Been tracking Nvidia's forums for a long time and Nvidia says that next month they will release a patch that will fix gothic's 1 and 2 problem.
But Arcania's DEMO will be released at 24th of September and October 12 the game will be released so cant wait that much
Risen got bored played already like 6 times....

This is dangerous because the "Lightmaps.pak" is corrupted/defect and maybe other files too.

This can/will make the game instable!

Please download the CP 1.74 from an ohter source and try again.

Hello, I'm having a issue. So I downloaded the patch, opens in a winRAR file and i click the .exe file. It downloads then when it comes up it says Gothic 3 not found and it gives you the option to find it. I clicked on ini data then gothic ETC. Help is appreciated!

No, no, no. This is the CP patch for G3. Ours are for G1 and G2 and those are miniscule compared to this beast.

First of all I wanna say " Hello" ^^ I'm new and I'm from Roumania so sorry for my english!

I put this patch and i see the difference! What I want is if you all can make a patch that will do no more freezing, cuz i play the game with all high at 35 FPS but are times when freezing and I really hate that! I have an ATI 5750 (btw thx cuz shadows were going wrong), an athlon 4200 x2 and 2 gb ram! Iplayed other games with more sofisticated requirements on high with 50 FPS no freezing! I know the game have a stupid optimization, but I REALLY hope that in one day(but not too long) someone will make a patch that will correct freezing!

I think it freezes because it has to load up that part of the world although i'm not sure.

You aren't on Win7, are you? I've not tried it myself but I did read a few posts that G3 froze at times on Win7.

On what OS did it not freeze? I have it going on Win7 64 bit, so far so good.

If you have a very good PC yes, but with athlon 4200+ x2 it really sucks!Resti have an 5750 and 2 gb
