>"If your company is dependent on console releases, you CAN NOT create a better PC version of a game that you develop." Nobody would like to play a game while knowing that he/she's playing a watered down version of a game. (usually, Wii is an exception where players are looking for motion focused challenges)
Console players and articles written by console fanbois will put your company on black list for that without even thinking the reason. Since you're dependent on console releases, you have to bear the "consequences" of your better PC version. This will affect other game sales of your company as well.<

the language can be changed in menubar while running mds.

Thank you!

I am received notification from dropbox.com - place, where hosted all big mods for online db - they deactivated my public links because this links makes huge bandwidth/traffic ... currently it is only for 3 days, so it will be not possible to download some mods for this period. But in any way it will be needed to find other place where it will be possible to host about 1.2 Gb...

Maybe you could ask World of Risen/Players if they could host it for us?

Hello,
i've got a problem with installing the Mod, hope you have a solution for me x)
When i try installing it, it gives me following error:
C:\Program Files (x86)\RisenMDS\rmds.exe
Fehler beim Ersetzen einer vorhandenen Datei:
DeleteFile schlug fehl; Code 5.
Zugriff verweigert.
Now after this i get to choose to either Ignore the File or to retry
retrying doesnt work, also starting the installation as an administrator doesnt work
im running on win 7 64-bit
Hope you've got a solution

Hi . Maybe in next version i'll finally will solve this, but currently, on Win Vista/7 with enabled UAC, you must start RMDS every time with admin rights (right mouse click on RMDS shortcut->Run as administrator).
P.S. Admin permissions is needed not only for installation.
As you can see from error message - you don't have rights to replace/change/add needed file. If launching RMDS with admin rights will not help, then it will mean, that you really don't have access to it (some ACL rules can block your account from editing the files).#Stand With UkraineLast edited by LordOfWAR; 13.01.2012 at 23:50.

Hi LordOfWAR
1st Thank you very much for creating this really nice and helpful tool for us mod consumers
2nd I want to report two bugs I found using your tool
Bug #1: strings.pak recompiling bug (not a critical but a rater nasty bug)
I'm not sure if it's RMDS fault or the fault of an external tool RMDS maybe using to compile the new strings.pak file.
Long description:
Spoiler:(zum lesen bitte Text markieren)Found the bug when I tried some mods which are dealing in strings changes like Guard Armor Mod and Equipment of a druid (v1.1).
I noticed (took me hours to nail it down) that if I use any mod which forces RMDS to recompile the strings.pak, in game the text on papers like letter or recipes are gone except for the headline.
see picture 1-3
Spoiler:(zum lesen bitte Text markieren)Risen v1.0.96124.0 + unofficial patch v1.3 + Guard Armor Mod installed with RMDS

First of all - thanks to all for reporting bugs here and notifying me by PM . Unfortunately another mds web-site is closed on free hosting, that's why you probably can't connect to MDS DB and receive message that here is new version avaliable (to fix this manually, pls check this post).
It is planned to publish new version in next few days. Problems with account rights on Win 7/Vista, auto-selecting working web-site and DB mirror and few others bugs already fixed (also DB error message - "not integer value" already have correct message with auto-reselecting another mirror).
2Spawnkiller, JFaron, Baltram, olafundkids: If you don't mind, I will send you today PM with link to RMDS new version for testing.
All bugs which was reported in this posts - already (should be) fixed:

Hi LordOFWAR
I did a quick test run on the beta version 1.3.4rc1, this is my report:
Spoiler:(zum lesen bitte Text markieren)
Test condition:
Copied RMDS v1.3.4rc1 files as recommended over the original installation of RMDS v1.3.2.3
Win7SP1x64, Risen version 1.0.96124.0 German, unofficial patch 1.3, Installed and active Mods:
Spoiler:(zum lesen bitte Text markieren)City Guard Chain Mail Armor
DarkRisen Texture Pack v0.1 by vurt
Oger Texture Mod
GamesharkNoman's Balancer Mod V1.0
Satellite view in Harbor Town
Map Arrow - small and red
Sara-DressMod
Inquisitor Armor Mod
Modified Inquisition Robes
NewWomanLook_Mod
Novice Robe Mod
Officer Coat Mod
R.E.T_PACK_V1.0
Staffmastery increasing Damage
Ursegor Armor Mod
Companion Mod v0.1a
Guard Armor Mod
Risen-Grass-Mod
Equipment of a druid 1.1
1."First mod in the list" selection problem (when mod becomes unselected after RMDS relaunch).
-> tested: looks fine, 1st mod item in list will stay checked if integrated or unchecked if not integrated.
2. Text convertation problems - when after installing some mod with text changes, documents become broken.
-> tested: looks fine. All text on paper, items, focus or descriptions are visible as intended.
Spoiler:(zum lesen bitte Text markieren)1st: A small slideshow, displaying Companion Mod, Druid v1.1 and Guards Armor Mod. All text bugs are fixed. (Waring: contains mild spoilers)

2nd: I ask myself, if you use the original Strings.pak as base for recompiling does this not undo any fixes done by the unofficial patch listed in strings.p00? As your newly created files is called strings.p01 and if I understand the Risen files system correct the latest .p0x will overrule any older changes.
I have no proof if this theory is correct or not.
3. Web-site and DB mirrors autoselecting now working correctly.
-> not tested.
4. Risen.exe path selecting loop deleted. Now you are able to select Risen.exe even if it is not set automatically from registry.
-> not tested.
5. If user working with UAC enabled, or he don't have admin rights - program must ask for it and if user will not allow access - program will be terminated. Program should work now even without - "Run as administrator" right mouse click with UAC enabled (must be confirmed - I can't test it now).
-> partially tested - scenario: Win7SP1x64 UCA active, but user has admin rights
RMDS opens the UCA window asking for admin rights permission.
- RMDS will terminate if rights are declined.
- RMDS will work as before if rights are granted.
I will test UCA behaviour later with use w/o admin rights.
6. If here will be no write access to the needed files/folders - program will show message to user and will be terminated.
Spoiler:(zum lesen bitte Text markieren)
-> Not sure what this description means.
Test scenario:
win7sp1x64, UCA active, user has admin rights;
case 1:
set a write protection (and all sub directories) on "FanMods" folder:
- RMDS does not warn the user or care about the folder status,
Installed and deleted mods with no disruption or show stop.
case 2:
set a write protection on a Mod folder FanMods\[Modname]
- as in case 1, RMDS does not warn the user or care about folder status.
Again installed and deleted mods with no disruption or show stop.
7. Found some small bugs in the main Window of RMDS.
Please see picture for more detail.
Spoiler:(zum lesen bitte Text markieren)
8. A small display bug on the statistic window if all mod's are displayed at the same time.
Please see picture for more details.
Spoiler:(zum lesen bitte Text markieren)
9. If stats windows is set to display only 10 mods, the last page looks strange with a big gab in the list.
Please see picture for more details.
Spoiler:(zum lesen bitte Text markieren)
10. The "About" button does nothing but tell that no .rtf can be found on any mod (tested it with all mods available in the internet DB)
-> either RMDS can't find the already provided readme.rtf file
-> or a 2nd more detailed .rtf should be presented, but that file is missing on all mods.
-> suggestion: kill this function or make it more useful.
Looks like this button has no greater purpose at all, displaying the readme.rft is not necessary as the description window already does this job.
More use... I have no idea right now, I will give it a thought the next days (maybe ask the community if they have any wishes or idea?)Last edited by Spawnkiller; 12.04.2012 at 07:20.

2Spawnkiller: Thanks for detailed report
Before text integration, RMDS extracted all strings.p0x files (pak, p00, p01..., p0x) step by step with overwritting old files. After integration, it just packed all result files back to tab and p0x archive. So, in your case - all changes from p00 will be included in result strings.p0x file .
Thanks for testing it . Seems like it works as should (I am changed required permission level from "AsInvoker" to "requireAdministrator").
RMDS check only it's main folder and game main folder for write access on startup. This must solve problems when user tried to launch RMDS without write access to Program Files folder (for example from account with usual "user" rights). But you are right, I will add checking on FanMods folder too.
Thanks, fixed. Old version number will be changed only on release - otherwise autoupdater will think that it is needed to downgrade version and will ask for update.
It is not an bug - I am set autozoom option on Chart component, so it tried to fit all mods on needed windows size... I will take a look how to change it .
This button migrated from G3 MDS - here was a lot of mods, where authors write some detailed stuff... But I am agree - it is not needed now... I think that it is better to hide it or set it to open mod discussion page on the forum...#Stand With Ukraine

Edit: Bugreport Update
Spoiler:(zum lesen bitte Text markieren)So I tested the write protection issue a lot:
Scenario:
Windows 7 SP1 x64;
RMDS and Risen are located on the same partition and same Program Files(x86) root folder.
Test case #1:
User with admin rights, active WP on Program Files(x86) (and all subdirs)
-> no effect what so ever.
No warning from RMDS, no show stopper.
Test case #2:
User with standard rights, active WP on Program Files(x86) (and all subdirs)
-> RMDS will crash when trying to start game within the tool.
No warning from RMDS beside the crash info by Windows, all other features work fine. (DL mods, install mods, integrate mods).
And a found a new problem/bug and I'm not sure it can be fixed at all.
(Maybe an UCA design flaw)
If the logged on user has no admin rights RMDS will ask for a User who has (-> enter password of a privileged user). If the game.exe it started by RMDS, the user profile of the admin granter will be used instate of the actual logged on user.
-> which causes that the wrong "savegame" directory is accessed by the game.
example:
Standard_user "Don" is logged on and has no admin rights. He opens RMDS and grand the tool admin rights via the admin_user "Titan" by entering the password. Now standard_user "Don" starts Risen via RMDS, but the game will the make use of the profile of admin_user "Titan". Therefore standard_user "Don" will access the "savegame" folder (and achievements.bin) of admin_user "Titan" instate if his own and can't progress with his own game status.
Tested with serveral admin and standart users. (Win7SP1x64)
Thanks, fixed. Old version number will be changed only on release - otherwise autoupdater will think that it is needed to downgrade version and will ask for update.

On the other hand, if Risen 2 is more mod friendly then its precursor, maybe a more detail button will become again a useful option. (If you plan to upgrade RMDS to support Risen 2 at all).Last edited by Spawnkiller; 12.04.2012 at 18:49.

2Spawnkiller: Thanks a lot again .
It seems like in both cases RMDS had an access to needed folders - because here was no error message and you was able to DL and install mods (that means that MDS was able to store files in FanMods folder and copy some files inside game folder)...
Note: If you just changed folder attributes to ReadOnly - MDS will ignore it and reset attributes to "Archive".
Error on game launch with writeprotection seems like game problem - not RMDS...
P.S. I am tested writeprotection with usual ACL and seems like all is fine - works as expected .
Yes, that's because RMDS have an option - "requireAdministrator", so OS will try to ask you for admin rights, that means that RMDS will always run only with admin account -> If game will be launched via MDS, then game will work also with admin rights.
If you want to use single savegames for different accounts, you can change savegame dir to "Risen\Saves\" in MDS Menu->Options->SaveGame Manager#Stand With Ukraine

Well true I only tested the folder attributes. Playing with the ACL and say revoking the group or user "Everyone" access to folders or files is a very dangerous game and is not the typical case in a standard users life. It's mostly used in business to limit or force access control on IT-systems. I guess if you already successfully tested the ACL case, my job is done

I also rarely use the RMDS to start the game as I start Risen via a modified game.exe (LAA support enabled).
So I hope this will help you, to publish the new version of RMDS a little bit faster.
Looking forward, to see the next release soon.Last edited by Spawnkiller; 13.04.2012 at 01:51.

Hello all . I am sorry for late release... Some planned recently new features (like converting/integration bin files) still not implemented - it will take much more time than I thought. In any way - here is new RMDS release, which must works much more stable than recently .
Changelog (fixed) :
- "First mod in the list" selection problem (when mod becomes unselected after RMDS relaunch).
- Text convertation problems - when after installing some mod with text changes, documents become broken.
- Web-site and DB mirrors autoselecting now working correctly.
- Risen.exe path selecting loop deleted. Now you are able to select Risen.exe even if it is not set automatically from registry.
- Now it is possible to select Risen.exe not only from "bin" folder inside Risen main folder (useful for modders who have few bin_1, bin_2 or so folders for testing).
- If user working with UAC enabled (or he don't have admin rights) - program will ask for it and if user will not allow access - program will be terminated. Program should work now even without - "Run as administrator" right mouse click when UAC enabled.
- If here will be no write access to the needed files/folders - program will show message to user and will be terminated.
- ModStatistics window now can be maximized/minimized or resized (with proportional components resizing/zoom). It means that now it will looks better, because it is not limited to some exact width and height.
- Now ModStatistics window contain info about mods names, download count and modification date (useful when comparing new/old mods)
- "More about this mod" button now linked to first WOP link in mod description. If here is no links to WOP, then RMDS will open our "Risen - Modifications and Editing" forum by default .
- Fixed few display errors.
Hosting changes:
Probably you already noticed that old version doesn't work and can't connect to web-site & mod DB. That's because my free web-hosting which contained info about RMDS DB was closed and because autoswitcher works incorretly in old version.
But... now, with this new version all gonna be fine - RMDS main domain already hosted on http://rmds.nicode.net/ (Many many thanks to NicoDE )
Mod DB & Files still located on free accounts, but they was, and I hope - they still will be, stable .
Thanks:
Many thanks going to NicoDE, Spawnkiller, all RMDS translators (Xardasrule, foobar, Macrentofeth, El Kamil, Ancalagon el negro) and all testers (Johnatan, Nimphomaniak, Looker, Xardasrule, Тать, Spawnkiller, JFaron, Baltram, olafundkids)! You did/do a lot of work all this time, thank you very much .
How to update:
If you already have old RMDS version installed:
- If you still have access to MOD DB, then just use inbuilt MDS updater - it will ask automatically for update (if you allowed it on first launch). Or you can launch update manually from menu - "Options->Updates->Update Now".
- If you already have RMDS installed but without access to Online DB. In that case just download usual installation file here and install it into same folder. Note - new installation script will launch RMDS uninstall if old version will be detected. If you have many mods in your local mod list, then just cancel uninstall process when RMDS will ask for it. If you will decide to uninstall old mds version automatically, then FanMods folder can be deleted too.
For users who still not have MDS, it is possible to download latest installation file from – http://www.worldofrisen.de/english/download_70.htm .
RMDS detailed statistic:
I doubt that here will be any new version for R1 MDS in future, except hotfixes (I thinking for rebuilding it for R2 suport). That's why I am decided to publish a little more detailed statistic (period - from RMDS creation to this time):
Detailed RMDS stats:
- Mods total count = 52.
- Mods total size = 1204.19 MB.
- Mods total downloads = 99985.
- Total bandwidth = 3480409.33 MB = 3 398.83724 GB = 3.31917699 TB .
- Total registered users = 806 (registration needed only to add new mods).

Hi, I have some Problems with the new version.
Update done:
After getting the info that a new version is there, acceptet that the installed mods are deletet.
After long wait time the modstarter updater showed up, showing correct old and new version.
but get an IO-error.
Restarted updater, updater told me that i have to delete old mods first- acceptet.
Updater told me that there was no mods to delete.
again long wait time and updater showed correct old and new version and also the IO-error.
removed old RMDS per uninstall link
downloaded and installed new RMDS
new RMDS has following Problems:
- Info window for mod is shiftet to upper left, so last 2 mods aren't visible, also the discription of the buttom under the mod list is not readable. (problem was allready postet from Lotzi) My resolution: 1920x1200
- only the very first mod shows the Info in the Info field, I tried >10 other and got URL not working
- couldn't download some mods. Tested: Risen-Grass, Sahra dress, Nude, High res Stones, Low poly vegetation (new); only Hgh res and Low poly worked, the rest brought a Link not working error.
Overall it takes forever for the tool to test a Link. Because the tool is requesting the Info from the mod, whenever you klick in the Modlist, You have multible wait times...
(internet is a 6000 DSL, normally very fast, only Hardware firewall in Router, System XP)
Any Idea?
Thanks

Looks like you don't have access to upload.worldofplayers.de server (or it's files) - I am uploaded here all mod descriptions & small mods. Other big mods, like - Low poly, High res and others - hosted on dropbox (that's why you can download them). WOP upload also hosted MDS updater files...
I am just tried to click on different mods in MOD DB and seems like links are ok .
Try to download this file by clicking on this link & with openening it in new window:
http://upload.worldofplayers.de/files8/mds_new_1340.zip
And about - "Info window for mod is shiftet to upper left" - please, make some screenshot, because I am not really understand what are you mean...#Stand With Ukraine
