Merry Christmas to all of you here on the gothic_forums.
Today I would like to bring to you're attention a poll discussion on the official ArcaniA forums concerning the appearance of the new hero.

In my opinion we here at WofG should also make a poll,because if we catch Jowood's and SB's attention concerning this matter maybe we can convince them to change the way he looks,and at the same time we should decide wether the hero should remain as he curently is or should we demand a change in his appearance.

My opinion is not that the hair is what guys like SWAT calls it on his posts,it's just that the haircut is a bit out of place,this being a game with a north european setting a such.They should either make it longer or shorter (but not like in Risen,the baldness of the hero's head hurts my eyes a bit )
I will even accept a ponytail like the old hero had in the past.The only problem with this hero is that he doesn't look horrible,it's just that he looks as if he dies his hair and he uses hair conditioner,wich in my opinion kicks the realism of the game directly in the nuts .
So I would like to hear you're opinions .

My god, yes!
One of my biggest problems with Arcania is the emo haircut of the hero. Please change it. It's not only immersion breaking and anachronistic, it's also downright hideous. Make him bald, or give him long fair hair that flows in wave-like locks, but please, no emo.

They should also give him some dirt and lice,I mean come on,this is inspired by the Dark Ages,an era where making a bath was considered an act of suicide and eating ones lice was mandatory to keep demons away (I know,I know,it sounds disgusting and repulsive,but that is how people actually acted in those times).Whait,scratch that,just give him long medieval style hair and forget about the dirt thingie §kotz.

And here I was, labouring under the misbelief that in order to be gay one must engage in same-sex intercourse.

In the grand order of things, I must concede that his haircut is of little importance. But who's to say they will stop there? They must be made aware of anachronisms and such.

Sorry mister DarkHermes, but you seem to have no Idea about RPG's. The haircut is the most important thing in a RPG, that's why If I were the developer, I would give an option to set and change it. You just can't play with a emo in a fantasy world, that would do much more bad than the word screw mean. If you know what I mean you will say that the photo Thordir posted should be the default haircut for the hero. He has to look badass.

Just imagine, for fucks sake, if you want to be a mage, how will the actual haircut of the hero go with a robe ? screwed is little to say.

Look, I understand what you mean with the do it yourself thing, but what if I like the entire game except for the hero's hair, wouldn't that screw the game for me? I won't make another gothic just for that, that's why the option to customize the hairstyle would be the best possible thing in this regard.

Also, please restrain from swearing, people. Placing a few asterisks in strategical places doesn't make it any less obnoxious, immature and just plain stupidly childish. If you cannot express your ideas without swearing, your ideas aren't really worth paying attention to and you could just as well save me the effort of reading them by not posting. And before anyone tries to play wise-ass, yes, I have to read them.

By the way, speaking of hairstyles, do you all have hairstyles that are RPG-enabled? I bet plenty of you have gay/emo/blablabla hairstyles, and as such, you really shouldn't be playing RPG's because that's just wroooong.

Our hero washes his hair with a shampoo and hair conditioner made with molerat fat, swampweed and either shadowbeast musk glands extract or Black Troll's dung. That's why his hair is so clean and sleek.

If the game fails it won't be because of the hero's hair, that's for sure.

Ok, but do we care ? In fact it is said Gothic 1 was a failure, because of the very difficult controls and stuff, but a failure as it was, for many of us here it was a great game. So Arcania has to be a great game for the gothic fans here, not for the world. Yep, that's the only thing we wait for it.

His actual hair won't screw the game, but It would do so to my playing experience. The only type of hero will be the guildless, free-roaming one, adventurer, prince of persia-kind. But what If I want to be a respected mage ? It will not fit.

Or maybe a corupt militiaman who acts for the law but at the same time he belongs to a group of thieves wich operates in the city (GII was so fun with the whole militia-thieves guild thingie going on .).
What if I want to walk around Torgaan yelling at people who annoy me :

"Hey §grr!!! I am a militiaman,and you will respect my autorataah !"

It won't have the same effect with that hair .
