I get the message genome stopped working and sometimes a message that said could not load driver because of compatability issues. tried running compatability in windows xp and vista ultimate and get same response. it used to work good with vista ultimate.
asus p55 mobo intel 750 cpu evga 8800gt graphics on just recently installed windows 7 ultimate.any suggestions before i toss windows 7 out the door?

Can you tell us exactly the messages? What driver exactly?

Getting rid of Windows 7 is also a possibility.

Did you install the community patches? The lastest one is 1.73. If you haven't then you can find it here.

gothic 3 does work on windows 7 ultimate.
I just have to remember windows 7 and
vista are similar, so.... turn off the user account
on your OS and yer all set.

As far as the driver it said i'm not sure of now . My bad.The game is working now. there were times that the game would just stop on me like a crash and would come up with a message about genome stopped working.Windows couldn't find a solution. I did check a web-site about genome and it ran a scan of my computer and said something about my cpu wasn't able to run Genome. Once I downloaded the update patch i was ok.

I've heard of problems people were having with progams running
Windows7 Starter and home version. I always use the ultimate versions
as they seem to have more drivers to help with compatability issues.

False or True thing... I would assume you want to enable debug mode, right, to edit ge3.ini

Probably it's UAC that doesn't let you to save the file, see here how to disable it: click.

If you still don't succeed, you might want to enable it by typing 'marvin'.

My Gothic 3 will not start in Windiws 7 64 home edition.
It says :

Did you try right-clicking on the gothic3 shortcut? It should open a window with properties listed at the bottom. Left click on properties and a new window will open. click on the compatability tab and set the game to run on 32-bit or xp mode. One of them should work. Also make sure your UAC is turned off.

Finally I have managed to get Gothic 3 working on Win 7 64 !
But for the price....
I had to buy the collector edition . I hope Gods of Gothic would be pleased with this offering

I disagree with turning it off. I have Vista Home Pro and UAC on and after the fight with the install, everything is on and running fine, just buggy and slow, but will be fixing that at home, via the mods I've gotten from here.

I can't get the game to start at all.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I have installed the community patch, disabled UAC, and set the application to run using Windows XP SP3 compatibility and as administrator.

I don't get error messages of any kind.

Nevermind. It seems you have to restart your PC to disable UAC. After I restarted the game works OK, except for a *very* slow framerate.

I installed gothic 3 on my windows 7 computer. in the beginning it wouldn't work. it said that i had to install some driver called "Tages protection" or something. i should go in "support" on my cd/dvd and execute the file DvrSetup.exe... but that driver didn't work with my version of windows. I searched on the internet, and i found a link to "Tages" homepage where i could download the newest version of their driver

after that my gothic worked... well, i just wrote this in case somebody could need that driver-thing
in the link just go in to "drivers" and there is a 32 and a 64 version of it.
