1) Increase your combat skill (1H), your swings will get faster
2) Avoid goblins for a while. Until you get the hang of how to deal with them, they can be pretty annoying.
Gobbo problems lol? Mate you can hit faster with the left and right swings...
P.S you don't need atk.speed to kill your enemy you need a good tactic and strong will xD

i tryed to do that and just run past them but i get stoped by the guy that wants to lure u in to his cave with candy and the goblins are still attacking me dam pedo bears in video games now cant u ever escape them
Just use the heavy branch at start and, using left/right swings, goblins shouldn't be too much of a problem. I've even taken out some young field raiders and wolves with it - and that was NotR!
In case you want to get better at fighting: just pick a nice open space and start swinging left and right. Try to get a feeling for it so you can keep on swinging.
If it's too hard to you I'd suggest you start with Gothic I (if you haven't played it) because it's a bit easier and you'll know the full story and stuff
Also if you play NotR get a wolfkinfe from Cavalorn
hahahhaha good 1 trying to find gothic 2 and 3 was a bi@$ one should be just as annoying i bet lol but i was thinking about that already sense on the third pepole rember me and im like who are u lol i think the problem i was haven was from useing the dagger
Never, ever, EVER use the wolf knife.
So what if it has 30 damage?
It also has 30 reach.
Which is less than half of the heavy branch's reach (which has 70).
So it'll get you killed three times as fast as the heavy branch.
And at the beginning there isn't much difference in effective damage anyway.
If anything, you'll want your opponent as far away from you as possible by using a weapon with as long reach as possible.
I ordered my gothic on the internet so it was easy...
wolfknife has 30 dmg bonus to 1 handed weps and you can wear it on lvl and is free (unles you don't have NotR)
gothic 3 i bought 2 times frist time was on the download to own and patch 1.72 wouldnt install so crapy and support was like oh well not our problem lol
and amazon got gothic 3 mixed with gta4 lol
think ill just get the gothic package wit the 123 in it

How do you know how much reach weapons have?
In any case, yes, stick to longer weapons. They can decide the outcome of a battle when fighting a stronger enemy.
Serious? Problems with the 2 goblins?
Ok, a small advice. In xardas tower there should be atleast 1 fire arrow, but also under a tree left of the waterfall (close to were the lone sheep is).
If you can't take 2 goblins, just kill 1 of em with the fire arrow, then you can finish the last one of with your branch.
If you know the basics of melee combat in G2, that challenge shouldn't be a problem.
Just to make sure you've got it right, here's a smal tutorial:
If you run forward and click left mouse button, you make an attack, but it's not a good way to fight. This is only widely used by rookie npc'c (farmers, etc).
The normal way to fight is stand still, hold left mouse button, and tap the arrow keys.
Left key strikes to the left direction, and right key strikes to the right direction, and you character doesn't move.
Up key strikes ahead of you, and the character steps a little forward by each swing.
When you have swung once, you must wait for the right moment before making a new attack, otherwise it will take much longer time before you can strike again.
There are some combinations you can't do though. If you strike right, you can't strike right again. You must use one of the other.
When using up key, you must see in which direction your sword is held, if right a right arrow swing won't work. It's quite logical. You can't swing to the right, if your sword is already held to the right.
Up arrow, will trigger a combo, but as rookie there's only 2 strikes.
Hint when fighting the goblins. Pick out one of them you wanna kill first, and make sure it's killed as fast as possible. Don't make strikes you may not hit with. This will only make it back off, so it takes longer time to kill, giving the other goblin a good opportunity to dmg you more.
And reach will do you a lot more in a fight than damage.
With enough reach, your opponent can't hit you, so you can just whittle away their health, 5 points at the time.
