    Hallo erstmal.

I have today my GFS about the Tower of London.

The Tower of London was built in the Middle Ages. It is a complex of several buildings, they are along the Themse. It served as a fortress / armory as a Royal Palace, and especially as a prison. There were also the Mint, the State Archives and an observatory building.
There were also the Mint, the State Archives and an observatory building. Up to King James I lived all English kings and queens there temporarily. Formerly, the monarch before his coronation day of stay in the Tower and then in solemn ridden to West Minister. Today are the Crown Jewels in the Tower and a collection of weapons.

1078 William the Conqueror ordered in the White Tower to be built here. He should be the Normans from the people of the City of London but also about protecting London. It should also be a gift.

In the following centuries, the fortress was expanded and it came a water dig there.

Today the tower is a tourist activity, where the crown jewels issued. But the building and the rest of the ancient city walls too.
In 1988 the tower was classified as word cultural heritage by the unesco.
After the crown jewels where stolen in the Westminster Abbey at 1303 they where hold in the Tower. Since they are kept in the Jewel House and will be guarded by armed guards.

There was even an animal Menargie. There were mainly kept wildlife. It was from the year 1235 until October 1835. They were mostly big cats and bears. But there were also other animals, the Queen Isabella of France got 1313 on their return to England to greeted with a porcupine

Today I would like to tell you some interesting facts about the Tower of London.

The Tower of London is a complex of buildings by the River Thames. It was built in the Middle Ages. In 1078, William the Conquerer ordered the White Tower to be built. It was supposed to be a gift (to the population?), and it should protect the city of London, but it was also there to protect the Norman ruling class from the local population. In the following centuries, the fortress was expanded and it got a moat (=Graben).

The Tower of London served various purposes through the centuries. It was a fortress, an armory, a royal palace and especially a prison (...). There was also a mint, the State Archieves, and an observatory building. Up until King James I, all English kings and queens lived there temporarily. The monarchs used to spend (a day?) in the Tower and then solemnly rode to West Minster on their coronation day.

In the years between 1235 and 1835 there was an animal menagerie there as well. It featured mostly big cats, bears and other wildlife.

Today the Tower is a tourist attraction. It holds a collection of arms and the crown jewels. But the buildings and the remnants of the ancient city walls are a sight themselves. In 1988, the Tower was classified “cultural heritage” by the UNESCO. The crown jewels had been kept at Westminster Abbey – but after they were stolen in 1303 and recovered, they have been kept in the Jewel House in the Tower of London and and they are protectd by armed guards.
Wenn Du noch Fragen hast, her damit! Sonst viel Erfolg!

Kann mir jemand noch dies hier kontrollieren? Bzw.

There was even an animal Menargie. There were mainly kept wildlife. It was from the year 1235 until October 1835. They were mostly big cats and bears. The Queen Isabella of France got 1313 on their return to England to greeted with a porcupine. There were also camels, ostriches, elephants, hyenas, owls, vultures, monkeys, rhinos and eagles.

The first trapped in the tower was Ranulf Flambard, he could still escape.

Today I would like to tell you some interesting facts about the Tower of London.

    Animal Menagerie
In the years between 1235 and 1835 there was an animal menagerie there as well. It featured mostly big cats, bears and other wildlife. There were also camels, ostriches, elephants, hyenas, owls, vultures, monkeys, rhinos and eagles. The Queen Isabella of France got 1313 on their return to England a porcupine.

Today the Tower is a tourist attraction. It holds a collection of arms and the crown jewels. But the buildings and the remnants of the ancient city walls are a sight themselves. In 1988, the Tower was classified “cultural heritage” by the UNESCO. The crown jewels had been kept at Westminster Abbey – but after they were stolen in 1303 and recovered, they have been kept in the Jewel House in the Tower of London and and they are protected by armed guards. The guards called Beefeater and still wear the same uniforms as in the past.
    The first Prisoner
The first trapped in the tower was Ranulf Flambard. He could still escape, with a rope that was hidden in a wine barrel. The guards were drunken, because a bishop gave them wine before.

The Tower was every night closed at 22:00 clock by the Chief Warder. There is a special key ceremony. The Chief Warder will then be escorted to the outer gate. Visitors may watch but will need a free pass. They should be 3 months before the desired date ordered.

That was my GFS about the Tower of London. Has anyone questions?

Also was deine Frage war wer das Stachelschwein bekahm, das war Königin Isabella als sie wieder zurückkahm. Mal schauen was du sagst.

From the year 1235 until October 1835 there was even an animal menagerie. There were mainly big cats and bears, but also camels, ostriches, elephants, hyenas, owls, vultures, monkeys, rhinos and eagles. When Queen Isabella of France returned to England in 1313, she was greeted wit a porcupine. At first the menagerie was only open to aristocrats, but later everybody could go there to see the animals.

The first prisoner in the Tower was the Bishop Ranulf Flambard in 1100. He was able to escape using a rope that was hidden in a wine cask. The guards were drunk that night because the bishop had given them generous amounts of wine. There were other famous prisoners, including Queen Elisabeth and other Royals.

The guards are called Beefeaters and they still wear the same uniforms as in the past.

The Tower is closed at teh o'clock every night by the Chief Warder. There is a special key ceremony. The Chief Warder will then be escorted to the outer gate. Visitors may watch but will need a free pass. They should be ordered 3 months in advance.

Does anybody have any questions? (Has anyone questions ist eher ziemlich umgangsprachlich/veraltet)
