    Hotfix 1.71 for CP 1.70

    Hotfix for Community Patch 1.70

    After about 4 weeks of work we present you a hotfix, which resolves some mayor and some minor issues. With this our work on Gothic 3 has now come to an end.

    You can simply install the hotfix and continue using your saved games. But community patch 1.70 is needed. If you have installed modifications then save your g3 installation before you install the hotfix.
    We hope, everything is at wish now.


    If you miss your savegames after installing the patch then switch on the AB again. Your savegame are there then.

    Changelog:

    Framework
    - No "red textures" anymore on graphic cards with shader 2.0a or 2.0b. (But red textures remain with shader 2.0 only cards like Radeon 9500-9800.)
    - Display of ingame time will be updated directly after loading a savegame.
    - The installer will not uninstall the game X3 anymore.

    Graphics
    - Fireball has its old looks again, but doesn't illuminate the surroundings.
    - New option "softer water" (only with Shader 3.0 and higher).
    - Problem fixed where the sky was full of large moons.

    Sound
    - Rain and wind sounds will start and end with the corresponding graphic effects.

    Dialogs
    - When the hero talks to Julio after Hassan's death and before the quest "Ore thieves" was started, the dialog menu will not offer Julio's sentence "There was another fellow with him, but I couldn't make out who he was."

    Ingame menus
    - The protection values in the character menu will now include the effects of the perks "improve robes" or "improve armor". (Note: Without AB the perks affect the entire protection of armor, shield, helmet, rings, and amulet; with AB they only effect the actual armor.)

    Inventory related topics (trading, looting, etc.)
    - Temmy sells stone tablets again.
    - When looting a mage or shaman by using the "Take all" key, the "amount" counter of the spells fireball and ice lance in the spellbook will not increase.
    - When looting Thorald by using the "Take all" key after Thorald received his armor, Thorald's face will not be deformed.

    Combat
    - Problem solved where magic and ranged weapons didn't injure NPCs.
    - Error in "rage mode" of animals corrected.

    Controls
    - The hero can block directly after a leftclick.
    - When opening an ingame menu and using the mouse wheel without clicking somewhere before, the game will not crash to desktop anymore.

    Strings
    - Several Czech subtitles corrected.
    - Some text errors corrected in German version.
    - Some text errors corrected in Spanish version.
    - Russian version of the regular manual added.
    - "Manual for modders" updated in both German and English version.

    Only with AI switch and/or "Alternative Balancing" turned on:

    - After the hero was knocked down or killed when fighting against Xardas, Xardas and his army of darkness won't attack the undead servant.

    We have said that we make a hotfix if there are problems with 1.70. Some problems were really not good (moons on the sky or rain sound starts too early/ends too late). So we did it.
    And there will be no 1.80. No chance.

    - The hero can block directly after a leftclick.
    Is that "it"?

    It is!

    @Dealos: Sure there are some more bugs in Gothic 3 but all important new bugs coming from CP 1.70 should be solved now. And this is the end of our work. A Bug free Gothic, that wouldn't really be a Gothic

    One year and a half that I had not played it, I had stopped after about 10 hours game play, the balancing and the fighting made it unenjoyable.
    Started a new game today and after 4 hours playing it's a blast.
    Thank you so much for your hard work, I even had the feeling I was playing a gothic game today :-) . Thanks all for the fun you gave me with your work

    There is now a new version of the community patch.
    This patch is only a summary of the CP 1.70 and the hotfix 1.71. There are no other changes.

    Hi there guys. I've been playing G3 with CP 1.71 for about 2 weeks now and I can say that I am impressed. I've been looking for bugs and I've only seen a few and they only occur very rarely. However, one major bug that I've noticed coming back is the one that makes terrain dissapear. After several tests, I found out that it only occurs north of Geldern around the sulphur mine and only after you level up to 20.

    @CPT. What changes did you make to improve the framerate? Forsaken Gods is based on the same engine and I was wondering if I could implement the same changes you did in CP 1.70 in a small mod that would improve FG's performance.

    Afaik, FG's crappy performance is largely the result of memory leaks, the Genome Engine seems rather prone to them, FG makes it even worse. It is possible to fix this, but such optimization would require the source code mate, sorry .

    FMK (From my knowledge) the leaks are the thing that eventually sinks the boat. However, for the immediately evident "substandard" performance (first hour or so) on a system with plenty of memory is something of a mystery.
    Could be a combination of several lousy subsystems working together or just a single poorly done routine.

    Bitte sehr, Profile the thing and publish the graphs.
    I would love to see and point the finger at the weakest link!

    The basis version of G3 CP 1.72 and G3 FSG is CP 1.60 made by CPT and Spellbound, the last common denominator.
    We now got two totally different versions of the engine!

    Have a look at the CP 1.72 changlog there are many fixes/changes/improvements, i don't know if FSG made the same.
    So it will not be the easiest way to improve FSG with the CP.

    My personal 2 cent:
    The best choices is take the CP 1.72 and add the FSG content and some of his features to him,
    but this is also not an easy way.

    Thanks. I think I'll start work on an FG remake project, but after I finish Warsong and after Arcania is published.
