English speakers in Gothic?
Hey guys,
I just want to ask you, if you could give me a sample of the english speakers in Gothic...I´m really interested in hearing this...
I mean that i can not imagine this
If you don´t know how to upload a sound file, here is a link for you:
RapidShare
PS: Sorry if my english is bad...
-
I would be interested in that, too....
To extract a soundfile use this tool:
(Scroll down and chose "free")
1.)Start the programm.
2.)Chose a speech file, for example ...\Gothic2\Data\Speech1.vdfs
3.)Now you can chose one of the .wav files and extract them by clicking on "extract selectet".
-
Ahh nice tool. Okay, I extracted some speech samples from G1 and a few from G2:
(All WAVs - I didn't convert to MP3)
Gothic
====
Diego from the first dialogue in the game
You (talking to Thorus)
...and Thorus's response
Xardas
And everyone's favorite, Mud
Gothic 2:
======
Although the voices sound very similar, it was actually a different voice actor who played "you" in Gothic 2. Here is a sample of the Gothic 2 hero voice: G2 Hero
Nearly all the English players were upset about the changing of Diego's voice in G2. For many (myself included), he was the best voice actor in G1. The actor who plays him in G2 is not bad in the other characters he plays, but he just doesn't seem right for Diego: Diego in G2
Notes:
======
- With the exception of the hero voice and Diego, all the voices of the major characters (and many minor ones) were the same across G1 and G2.
- One of my other complaints about G2 is the fact that they re-use Xardas' voice on too many other characters. Xardas has a very distinctive voice and they shouldn't have diluted its effect in that manner.

thx
In the German version we have the same problem with other speakers from G1->G2 and that one Speaker speak more than on char.
-
nomina nuda tenemus
For instance there is only one female voice actor for all women in German Gothic II. I hope for Gothic III there is a bigger budget for voice acting and more actors can lend the game characters their voices.

There are two. At least there are two different voices...
I uploaded some german files...
Edit: Sorry, wave files are not allowed on my webspace...
They deleted the files shortly after I uploaded them...

Oh my god
MUD sounds perfect!!!! His voice sounds a little bit like the english cartman :LOL:
To the other speakers i can only say, that they are really good(except of Diego from GII)...
But it´s strange for me to hear this...
We have the same "Xardas problem" in the german version. They used his voice for some other NPCs, too...
@german players:
The hero in their GII sounds like our hero, or what do you think?
-
yes, you`re right. The voice of the english speaker of the hero ist similar to the german voice, but in fact there`s a difference. In my opinion the german voice is a bit higher than the english one
-
Really.
The same nasal voice of the german speaker. The other voices are nothing to complain about, too.
-
Lehrling
GIII is really going to have different voices for every single sentence i'm sure of that
what i mean is same actors but if same char tells you sumthing like ... gold pieces it will have atleast 3 different sentences for each char and no voices from some chars to the other ones
-
banned
Move here Elkston, ya get a free hug
finally i heard the voices of the english Gothic.
Well, imo:
The Speaker of the Hero is pretty good, I like it, an Thorus is great to. Mud is very cool, but not as good as the german.
But Diego? Uff, I realy dont like the speakers of Diego. In both parts.
The german Speaker of diego is imo - after mud´s speaker - the best of german gothic, I love his rauchige (smoky?) voice.

Yeah sometimes the English players have this tiny advantage. With the delaying of NotR we were 'obligated' to buy a German version and use the subtitle patch. With this however we could also hear the German voices of our beloved games. So how a disadvantage can become an advantage.

yeah. we were so lucky to have this delay of NOtR... wall
-
I just got The Night Of The Raven, quiet late but it's ok...I just begun it, and its funny, coz the dialogues that are in gothic 2 are in english and just the addons are speaked in german with the subtitles in english, and i noticed that the heroes voice iz not the same, with the english one, lester's voice is not the same, lares's voice , lothar's voice...etc... they are different...and its quiet hard to understand because the subtitles are very fast...(can't read all of them ... ) ... but it's ok....
-
i heard that there is a way to slow down the subtitles by i don't know how. i never cared nuch cause i'm a fast reader!
-
Neither do I sinch I can make out some of the German lines too. (No, I don't have ever learned German nor my roots ly in Germany, it's just close to Dutch as a language.)

-
that's exactly what's with it! it is a german addon, with the translation patch that changes the subtitles of the german dialog voices from german to english! the main problem is that german is faster than english! thus the relatively fast subtitles!
-
Who knows, perhaps NoTR will still come. I would just buy it to support PB.

I do hope that the voices are the same from g1 and g2...(especially for diego that from g1).....In NOTR the german voices differs alot from the english voices... is that true for g2 to ?
