Okay now I've read it and I can say that it's dumb, sorry Spellbound I don't like it. It seems that everyone knows that the hero is nameless, everybody knows of his deeds and etc. It kinda destroys the Gothic feeling to me.
And why is everone callin' him nameless hero! It's just stupid, he's the king now so why don't people say like "Oh there's a new King, Rhobar III, but I never heard that Rhobar II had a son... strange... Well who understands the King shit! Give me another mug of ale!"

I hope it will be fine, but I have my worries. Gothic was simple, red-neck game, not a high fantasy. In the colony people behaved and talked like in the prison. Names were simple, intrigues were simple - to ambush and to beat a crap out of somebody. Now it seems we are going to get a high fantasy with some story elements ripped from Gothic. May be it will be a good game on its own, but it won't be Gothic 1+2 style. And it supposed to be a rival to new ES5 (at least in their dreams), and to conquer american market. So I believe they have to change gaming paradigm. Gaming preferences of americans seem to be different (compare Gothic and Oblivion in terms of character interaction, personal involvement with NPSs, even dialogue options).

And yeah ,its pretty lame to call the hero Nameless now when he is a king

But at least SB will focus on story ,that`s a good thing for now.

exactly, and the transformation began with the introduction of dragons in g2. After that somthing happened which lead to gothic slowly becoming a generic medeival rpg. SB should just take whatever they are making right now and remove all the happiness, glory, and joy. Gothic had its happy moments because it was a break to normal life from all the attrocities and terrible things you have to do the rest of the game. Go back to demons, strange creatures, and a slow developing story line. that would be a step in the right direction.

Reading the last story I got the feeling it happens during the evens of FG (after "he fought that mage… and won" but no mention about Rhobar 3, a major event). Or at least the narrated events are from that time, how much time it take for gossip to travel between mainland and southern islands I don't know.

Not so good, imho, that part of the story, the former parts were imho a lot better.

... Calling the nameless "nameless" is like calling his destiny a "quest" -> atmo-killer at it's best, an absolutly no-go. They are talking like a g3-quest (dialog-) log, ... reminds me of the FG-intro.

What's wrong, ... release pressure? ... j/k ... But that wasn't the best shot.

Well, in the end it's just a difference of tastes. I agree with the fact that calling him nameless is lame, but...heck. How else to call a nameless person? -_-' And the game was never happy, dudes. Just ironical at times. Laughable irony. I guess we won't see that and i guess Arcania won't be gothic at all but I see a great game coming up (even if I won;t be able to run it...)
