Gothic 3 "Where is the guru?"
Hey everyone
When I play Gothic 3 it turns off and shows me a msg called "Where is the guru?" then below it, says something about memory...
My specs:
AMD Phenom 9500 Quad-Core 2.2GHz, 3.0GB Ram, nVidia GeForce 8500 (clocks - 555/1110/555), Windows Vista 32-bit.
When I play on max settings in Gothic 3, it turns off after 5 minutes of playing, if I play on max settings (textures medium) then it turns off after 2 hours. Game is bought from a shop + patch 1.6.
If there is anything that can fix this (except changing win vista to xp) then please help me ?
Cheers

Welcome here
Make sure you have the latest driver/optimizer for your processor.
Nvidia 8500 is not a high end video card, you could try to set G3's details to medium. Also, make sure you have the latest driver for it and that you don't force settings like anti aliasing.
It is known that with high settings, the game is more prone to crash.
Also, make sure you install at least the directx 9.0c Aug 2006 from the game's disk, if not something newer.
You could try to write us the exact error message from the guru window (in what module was the error, at what address...). Maybe it's a known problem.

Well, yes I know 8500GT is almost the worst 8 series card but still... Gothic 3 works perfectly well on high settings (it just turns off). Got the latest drives for my card, for motherboard too, also got the hotfix for windows vista
And sure, here you go the exact msg:
Where is the guru ?
Gothic3.exe
caused a EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
in module <UNKNOWN> at 001B:3019B3B8

Unter Vista 32 öffnen Sie unter "Start" -"Alle Programme" - "Zubehör" per Rechtsklick und "Als Administrator ausführen" eine Eingabeaufforderung.
Dort geben Sie "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVA 3072" (ohne Ausführungszeichen) ein.
Rechner neustarten.
i ll try to translate it in english:
Under vista 32 bit you have to open start, all programs, Accessories, command promt
right click on it, Run as admin, and enter it exactly ( except the ") like i wrote it.
"bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVA 3072". know there should come the message that it was succesfull. Restart the Computer. now the guru shouldnt come anymore. ( i dont give any garanty that every word i tried to translate is translated correctly)

§welcome!
The dualcore can make problems if it hasn't the proper drivers installed.
When does the error appears, and what is the error message?
