This is my computer: AMD Phenom 9500 Quad-Core 2.2GHz, 3.00GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT, Windows Vista 32-bit.
I have a problem with that bug "Where is the guru?", if I'm playing on highest details game turns off and I can see the window "Where is the guru?"... Can somebody help me ?

Tell us (or make a screenshot of) what it says exactly in the "Where is the guru" window. (Where is the guru is just the name of the window)

What patch version do you have applied for G3?

Did you installed the latest dx9c (or at least the one from the game's disk)


Try setting the details to medium, or at least the textures.

"Where is the Guru" is the name of the window, not the problem itself.

Try setting the textures on medium.

Thats it... I will try the advice with the textures but if somebody knows exactly why it happens help please

I've installed patch 1.6 and DirectX 9.0c (the one from G3's CD)

Other things to try:

set compatibility mode for gothic3.exe to 'XP sp2'


do you have SP1 for vista installed?

Latest drivers?

Of course I have. I downloaded and installed the latest update for my GeForce 1-2 weeks ago, and a hotfix for my windows vista.

Edit:
Well after I changed it to compatibility with XP SP2 it doesn't show "Where is the guru?", now it just says program Gothic 3 has stopped working.
I guess I have to play on medium textures...

But when i run "Driver Detective"(a program that shows me what's out of date), it says that my NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA Controller is out of date, I dont know what is that but does it cause the problem ?

Usually the video/audio drivers are important (and maybe the processor driver, if yours needs one) for games. But you might never know... search nvidia's page for a new version of nforce drivers.

I just started downloading the nForce update, because it says it's out of date, I hope it will work

Uh so when you play with medium textures there's no problem? I guess you should leave it as it is and be happy G3 even RUN on your PC, seems not everyone can say the same.

Well yea, but this computer was not that cheap so

Yeah I can imagine... but G3 is G3.

G3 works independently from your computer, it works only if he likes you... and he doesn't like you enough to show you high textures.

Hehehe I rather he doesn't like me but anyway he lets me play on medium textures than hate me and dont let me play even on low textures
