I would gladly whack the Gothic fanbase on the side of the head with a greatsword, but I get dropped from every server I've tried to join, shortly after joining. Any ideas?
-
Does it happen immediately after class choice? Are you playing on polish servers?
-
@Bastardo They tend to do that. Go to Rox's Internation Gothic Multiplayer server. The polish are fucking the English-speaking over.
-
By the way I'm referring to plain "International Colony". I don't have anything to do with the server by Cros.

In a few seconds. I get to move around a bit before the message pops up. And yeah. Polish servers are the ones with some players, the others are mostly empty.

Yeah, I think you're right. Some of them are banning me upon joining the game.

Ban after class selection is due to the anticheat feature of the server. It checks the .ZEN file of the world that is in use and the Gothic.dat file that consists of scripts. If you have modified these files and the server checks for it you get banned for one hour. Also there is a difference between german/polish Newworld.zen and the russian/italian/english one, which caused a lot of banning trouble too. You can download a vdf file with the german/polish one here to avoid getting autobanned.
If you get banned after class selection it's plain due to the fact that you speak english I assume. Heard a lot of rumours of people from germany, russia, italy or romania who got kicked for that, so it's likely true.

Yeah, the .vdf was my problem. Thanks.

Turns out there is an English version coming out for the German GMP. After release though.

The are no monsters nor currency. No quests either. Just check the site for details.

You've been able to have events ever since the 23rd of January 2011, the release date. It's all just relying on organisation.. But of course I have to admit that it was a pain in the ass to have fights with the old bugged fight system. The biggest problems like unappropriate onehit kill, unexpected death and people running around dead (so that they can't be attacked) have been taken care of in the update in August/September 2011.
The current fight system is not 100% synchronised, i.e. the hit chances aren't appropriate but that's it I guess - for me it is bareable, especially because you can work against it by balancing the classes.

Thanks for the answers. I`m glad people still work on it and are making progress. I`ve seen some videos and it looks impresive ,far better than the last time i played.
May Gothic never die

Hey, guys. I have been playing the mod in the last couple of days with my friends and it is really cool to do all kinds of stuff in the world of Gothic together with other fans.
I do however have one question, is it posible to insert items into the game? Can I somehow edit it the files so that chests have specific objects which can be picked up by the players? Same question with the monsters.
Thanks very much and keep up the good work!
-
Yeah, you can edit the world files with Spacer to put in items. Ask here if you need help in that. Other players will have to download the .zen files manually and put them into their Gothic directories.
You can also host a server and edit the classes to your likings so that they have the items that you want to give them directly after joining the game.
There's no way to spawn monsters without modifying the game, it's only possible to do it with scripts. Yet they will be unsynchronised and attack other players, which means immediate death out of nowhere (since they can't see them and do anything about it). Changing the perceptions might work, but I'd rather play single player than to bear with unsychronised monsters..

Thanks, I'll take a look at it and see what I can do.
One thing I want to ask you about the monsters. They can't be added in a similar way as the objects? I mean put them in the world files (if it is possible, I don't really know how this things work) and than give this files to the other players?
Please give me a few basic details about it.
Thanks!

You can spawn them by adding a function to the default gothic scripts:
Code:
func void mod_insertnpc (var int npcInstance,var string spawnPoint)
{
Wld_SpawnNpcRange(hero,npcInstance,1,500);
AI_Teleport(self,spawnPoint);
Npc_ExchangeRoutine(self, "Start"); //Rtn_START_xxx
};
Then you can call this function with the required parameters in example in Startup.d. Example:
Code:
mod_insertnpc (PC_Hero,"BL_MERCHANT_03_SLEEP");
As I said I don't recommend you to do it however because they won't be synchronised and attack other players, who can't defend themselves unless you change the perceptions.
