Ok, it looks like I got a trojan: Vundo.
Now how do I rid of it without trashing the computer?

Dang, McAfee is suddenly popping up with tons of Vundo trojan .dlls removed...
Looks like McAfee might've removed all the Vundo-files while Vundofix was scanning for them. ><

Find a hobo, stab him, drag him into your cellar, pour his blood to a pentagram on the floor, put a few candles around, light them, recite something demonic, behead a chicken, drink the blood, pray to the Dark Lord then throw your computer into the erupting flames that ocur.

Then when the flames are out the computer are fixed! I tried it once, and it worked fiiiine, gentlemen, fine. Try it!

Or install windows again. Deletes all your files and stuff but the spyware is most likely gone.

I remember this stupid trojan. I had the same $%#@ some months ago . I downloaded and used every single program but.. no results. So I downloaded SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition.. It was my last try.. If it wouldn't work then I would really give up and broke my PC into pieces. Anyway.. IT DID THE JOB! I couldn't believe it! Hope it will help ya too.

Just Download a Cocktail of Anti Viruses, Kaspersky, Bit Defender and a few more, just do this and let all of them scan at the same time, that should fix it,
helped me with the dumb DOOM Trojan back in 2004 ; just try this

I can get the main page of google, but it keeps loading ad infinitum whenever I tell it to search for something.
Get the infinite loading for a number of other sites too, unfortunatly. ><

and install firefox or opera or any thing else than the Explorer, just imagine this virus of your's atack's Window's win32 cell's, that includes Explorer to so no wonder why it work's like shit with Google

I'm already using firefox 2.0.0.14...
It doesn't work with IE either.

Have you tried installing a new browser after you got the trojan? I mean, there's a possibility a fresh install would not be infected, allowing you to access the sites you now can't and possibly find a solution.

Although by now, I would definitely resort to the good ole "cureitall", re-installing Windows.

Not yet, I wanted to try other stuff first.
Though I already downloaded the newest version of Firefox.

Besides; afaik, firefox itself isn't infected.

It'll take days to get everything on my External HD.
