[Gothic II NotR] Play as PURE Mage
I instaled NotR 2 days ago (for modding purpoes), but today in school i thought of something! I have never played NotR as a mage, and i want to do it now! But i want to be realy pure mage, Learning Points only to be spend on Magic circles, mana etc.
So Is it posible to finish the game like pure mage without learning str., dex. or swords?
And, is there a way to enter in the monastary without paying 1000 gold and bringing a sheep? (I need those 1000 gold for donation for Innos)
Fighting on the internet is like running in the special olympics, even if you win, you're still retarded

In NoTR you can get into the monastery by fetching a statue for Daron. Talk to Vatras & Lares about help in joining a guild.
-
Well, if you really don't want to spent LP's on other things but Mana/magic, than it will be VERY hard and painful. For example this way at the biginning it will take several reloads to get that statue from those black goblins. The runes has much less effect, you can't kill an orc warrior with 2 lightnings, ASO. Hard. Challenging. Not impossible though.
-
That exacly how i want to be, hard and challenging!

Would you use alchemy to brew str. or dex. potions or not?
Good luck man!
Also just a reminder, some of the spells from Zuris are pretty powerful. Get them ASAP!
-
I will use alchemy but only for mana and healing potions.
I alredy have problems!
Am performing the test of fire, so i need some spels from Zuris. But i have only 1 gold in my inventory! (All spend on blessings, and prayers on Innos shires).
So can u tell me some tip how to make quik, lets say...1000 gold? I need that for spels!
Just dont tell me to pick flowers and sell it. Am doing that at the moment.

You don't need any scrolls... If you REALLY spend no LP on others but spells/mana, you should be an expert of one thing: RUN, Forest, RUN!!!
-
So Imposible! I passed the Test of Fire and now i have Fire Arow with only 25 dmg! And i cant learn the 2 circle, in 1 chapter! Thats stupid! I give up! I will play New Game as Pala.

You gave up? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I'm sure it was challenging, but that's the point!
Oh well hope you liked it.

Takes a lot of patience to play pure mage. I've done it, and its easily the hardest method. It takes much longer, and, the reason I like it more, it actually takes some strategizing. Don't give up so quick, man...experience the game in a new way and have some patience. Learning alchemy is essential for the pure mage method. Learn to brew a few potions (one healing, one mana) then spend a lot of time collecting plants. When I did this I stored up tons of ingredients, then just brewed potions all the time. I also payed Gritta's debt so I could learn lockpicking, and also learned to sneak. This part was essential, as it supplied an alternate means of income, and another way of obtaining potions. Another thing I did was to become Bosper's Apprectice. It pays well and with magic being a ranged attack it just made sense...though you have to know when you are ready to hunt certain animals.

Yep, but Takuu said, no LP's will be spent on these, like sneak or skinning animals...
-
I think the problem with money can be solved easy Just be an aprentice for Harad and then u make swords and Harad pays good gold.
"Form an alliance with them ! This could be the only way to fight Beliar." (Xardas)
"...And there were both Order and Chaos at the same time.."(Vatras, Mage of the Water)

I'm playing G2 NotR as a 'pure' mage on a hardcore way. The only LPs I spend outside the 'magic realm' were spend to rise two-handed fighting skills up to 60%, and I have a feeling that it would be possible to play as mage even without this, true there would be some additional (very tough) hurdles to overcame, and as kjmarket said some some additional strategizing, and above all smart thinking/planning and of course lots of patience.
Fire Arrow is not such a bad and weak spell as it seems, I played quite a big portion of my adventure with it and it served me very well.

Can you use the mind control spells?I mean the runes and spells with green dot(telepatic spells i call them)Now when you have MUCH mana(max 100 LOL) you can cast fear or control. It is cool

I just completed the game like this some time ago. The only potions I brewed were five elixirs of spirit near the end of the game. You should start praying on the Innos shrines when your natural mana is at least 90 (better yet, wait till it's 120). Make the "summon skeleton" rune as soon as possible. After you've made it, you won't have much trouble with anything in a long time. In the Addon world, try to find all the Cleric artifacts (two rings, one amulet). When you wear them all, they give you +40 mana.

I forgot: the seller guy, monk, mage, whoever, at the monastery sells you a staff that gives +20 mana. I think you can get it already in the first chapter (not sure though). I myself didn't notice it until the fourth chapter, or so. It's easy to miss.

i think you mean gorax..hmmm,i don`t remember a staff that gives +20

Gorax... Yes, I'm pretty sure it was him. He has something like three staffs in his inventory, and one of them gives +20 mana. It took me a while to look closer, since, as a mage, I wasn't really interested in weapons and it didn't occur to me that a staff might have a mana bonus. As a fighter sort of character, in an earlier game, I wasn't interested either, since I used one handed weapons. You could check the weapons list for Notr, I keep having some problems with my connection, works a minute and then doesn't for two (been happening a couple of days already).
