How do I increase draw distance - GII
As per the thread title - I did use the search function as I highly doubt that this hasn't been requested before, though 3 different search results turned up nothing.
So anyway, during what must be at least my forth time through the game, I finally discovered that F1-F4 increases/decreases draw distance. F4 is the highest, however, I'd like to know if I can turn it up even higher?
Any help appreciated - thanks in advance.

I guess you can turn it even higher in the options.

300% is the highest it can be adjusted to in the options.
I found this in the config file:
zVobFarClipZScale=14
; ... with this setting you can tune the object visibility range. (range: 1..3) default: 1
Though setting it to any number higher than 14 (which was default when I initially opened the file), had no noticeable effect. I'm not sure where I should be looking though - that may be the wrong line in the wrong file for all I know.
Ideally, I'd like to set up draw distance so that everything is rendered so far ahead of me so that I never see any 'pop-up' in the distance. The beauty of playing old games on new hardware is that if the engine will let me do it, it'll add greatly to immersion and it won't impact on my frame rate.

First of all, that would require a damn powerfull videcard. My gf7900gs holds a F3 setting, sometimes F4, and you want more ...
Second, 300% -- that's it, as far as i know. you can't go any further, not even through ini editing.

that s true...
even if u try to edit values in .ini file in order to increase sight over 300%, the values edited out of range will automatically reset on default when u launch the game.
i ve tryed too.

Thanks people. I figured that that would be the case - the line I posted above seems to control draw distance - it steps in 20% increments in the options, which in turn increases the value in the .ini by 1. So 200% draw is 9 in the .ini. Going over 14 does just reset it back to 14 when the game starts.
I was hoping that there might be a trick that'd let me have everything drawn as far as I could see. E6600/4GB RAM/8800GTX is pretty much idle at 300%. I think I originally played Gothic II on my old Duron800/128MB/GF3 Ti200 so it's nice to have been able to turn everything up as the years have passed, without worrying about a hardware meltdown.
We might have machines that'll let us make similar requests about Gothic 3 one day...I installed that on my 6800GT and it ran like crap. Then I thought "Oooo, it'll run maxed out on an 8800GTX" ...but I was wrong.

Woot ? U can't play G3 maxed out on the GTX ? I play it on GTS(640 mb) 1680 x 1050 maxed out with 30-40 FPS with view distance improved and many .ini tweaks for a better looking view.
The problem is that the game runs like shit, like an online laggy game while any other game at those details, resolution and same FPS runs very fluid.
I dont think we might ever see a system capable of running G3 fluid because of the crappy engine.
