Can somebody that is German PLEASE translate this part to English? I would appreciate if someone could do that for me. Please help me, I can't read German that well ^^

EDIT: I need this to solve the problem with my installation of Gothic II (I guess I need it)

F: Hallo zusammen, wenn ich versuche Gothic II zu installieren, kommt ganz zum Schluss (wenn mir eigentlich der Text mit der erfolgreichen Installation mitgeteilt werden sollte) eine Fehlermeldung. Und zwar: "Gothic II konnte nicht erfolgreich installiert werden, da ein Fehler aufgetreten ist. Bitte stellen Sie sicher, das die Original-CD eingelegt ist während der Installation. Zum beenden der Installation Abbrechen anklicken."

A: Erst mal nur für die Dauer der Installation alle Hintergrundprogramme, wie z.B. Virenscanner, Firewall usw. und alle nicht benötigte Prozesse im Task-Manager (unter „Prozesse“) beenden.

Für Probleme bei der Installation von Gothic II sind im wesentlichen folgende Hauptursachen ermittelt worden:


- Es sind nicht die aktuellen Motherboard-Treiber installiert

- Mit VIA-Mainboards kommt es zu Problemen, wenn nicht die aktuellen VIA4in1 Treiber für diese installiert sind

- Für P3/P4-Motherboards mit Intel-Chipsatz sind Treiber zu finden zum Beispiel unter Intel Support


Spyware-verseuchte Systeme
Mit "Spyware" sind unerwünscht installierte Programme gemeint, die permanent im Hintergrund laufen und die Kompatibilität und Systemleistung teilweise dramatisch reduzieren. Um Spyware loszuwerden empfehlen wir den Einsatz von Lavasoft AdAware, erhältlich von Lavasoft , sowie Spybot erhältlich hier: Spybot - Search & Destroy download

Wichtig: Gleich ein Update nach der Installation machen (für beide Programme), danach den System checken, und alle Schädlinge die die Programme gefunden haben entfernen.


Nach unseren Erfahrungen konnten E/A-Fehler behoben werden durch:

- Defragmentierung/Überprüfung der Festplatte

- Installation der neuesten Chipsatz- und IDE-Controller-Treiber

- Änderung der BIOS-Settings, insbesondere Laden von „Safe Defaults“ im BIOS

- Deinstallation problematischer Programme wie Spyware, DaemonTools,Alcohol 120%,CloneCD, Gamejack, DirectCD, InCD, Creative Soundblaster-Tools

- Oder auch ganz simpel: Reinigung des CD-Laufwerks

- Durch die Installation des Spiels in einem anderen CD- beziehungsweise DVD-Laufwerk

I looked at that forum before but there is one problem: They asked me to download Gothic2-Setup.rar and when I did I had to open the .bat file. Well I've done that and they asked me to insert the disc where Gothic2-Setup.exe is on. That's disc 1 if I'm right. Well I guess that's what I have to do (I can't read German very well). Anyway when I opened the .bat file they asked me to press any button. I did so, but then they say to insert the disc with Gothic2-setup.exe on it, but It's allready inserted! What's the problem with that file?

And there is one more thing. I would love to have that text above translated because the title of that text (in the German Forum) says something about:

Installation get stuck at the Speech1.vdf file. Well that's actually the same problem that I have too. I don't know if you could help me, WernerTWC. It would be really appreciated.

(Perhaps it can help anyone, otherwise it is a spam post, for which i have need
half an hour.)

Q: If I try to install Gothic II, i get an error message at the end of the installation ( where I usually informed, that the installation is successful), called: "Gothic II couldn't installed successfully, because an error occured. Please ensure, that while the installation is running the original Disk is in the drive. To quit the installation klick on cancel.

A: Quit all not requirerd processesin the Task-Manager, like virus scanner, firewall an so on, but only for the durability of the Installation!

The following points are the main reasons for problems with installing Gothic II:

- The motherboard drivers aren't up to date

- If the current VIA4in1 drivers aren't installed, their will be problems with VIA-motherboards.

- Drivers for Pentium 3 and 4- Motherboardds with Intel chip set can you find under Intel support


Spyware-contaminated systems
"Spyware" means unwanted installed programms, which are running in the background and sometimes dramatically reducing the compatibility and the system capacitiy.
To solve this problem use Lavasoft AdAware avaible from Lavasoft and Spybot avaible here: Spybot- Search & Destroy download.



According to our experience I/O-errors could solve with following points: (I mean I/O i the abbreviation for Input/Output)

-Defragmenting/Checking the hard disk

-Installation of the newest chip set drivers and IDE-Controller drivers

- Changings in the BIOS-settings, particularly loading of "Safe Defaults" in the BIOS

- Deinstallation of problem caused programs like Spyware, DaemonTools, Alcohol 120%, Clone CD, Gamejack, DirectCD, InCD, Creative Soundblaster-Tools

- Very simple: Clean your CD-drive

- Try to install the game in an other CD-drive or DVD-drive
