What happens if you never even talk to Canthar? Is this a way to avoid him ratting you out?

If i remember corectly ,if u help Sarah she will give u a Pirate`s Cutlass ,and that`s an awesom sword in the beginning .
Anyway u can find that sword in on of the huts,in the harbor ,where the ship is...

I always turn Canthar to the authorities, because by expirience I don't want to have anything with him. Later in the game I usually go into the prison and in his cell and kill him, and it seems that the prison guard dont care about it much, aspecially if he don't see you doing it. Or I even give him 500 gold peices later when he's out to restore my reputation with the city merchants, by that time I'm loaded with money.

Anyways first i helped sarah and then when Canthar screw me over I just Did him with my fireball... only bad thing was that I had to kill all the the militia who stood up for him... Still I felt good for killing him, it`s a shame, I had to load

Well ,be careful ,because if Canthar tells everyone that u are an escaped convict ,and u kill him ,it will be impossible to buy from merchants in Khorinis ... that happened only once ,but i reloaded anyways ^^

well, sarah gives u more and best things then cantar, so its not just principales, but if u want to get a beter weapon and more exp go to sarah and help her!
i dont like helping cantar, it looks that im his b"""h! but he make us all realy pissed off when he says to evri1 that we are convicts! so the best way to help saraha and us, is to apear at cantar with the farmer clothes and say"i cant complain!" when he ask "hows the work peasent?" or just go to him with formal clothes, and he wont say nothing special!

I usually ignore Canthar's proposition outside the city,so that later I can get that so called "great weapon". And I usually turn Sarah in (she doesn't offer any free weapons, so she has to pay ).

I know, i allways did that, he is a greedy bastard! You cant sell a woman for somthing she didnt do just to get some rusty old weapons!And that woman has BETTER weapons than Canthar ANYWAY!
