I own G2 Gold on Steam. The Steam version comes with system pack 1.8, but I wanted to use Union 1.01. I deleted shw32.dll, vdfs32g.dll, systempack.ini and systempack.vdf.
I switched to Union because I want to use the "no friendly fire" plugin.
When I start the game, I get this message "union error the function at 0x00734860 is already hooked" I press enter and everything seems alright. I don`t think this is normal.
Does anybody know what files to delete, to remove system pack 1.8? There is no option too uninstall it. I have replacement files from my CD version on my other PC. V2.7 Gold. I also heard I should use the Steam Fix patch. But which one? I found 2.
V07.2022 and V03.2020. So far I tried using the V07.2022, but I get A message saying "the instance is already running" when I start the playerkit.

I have a file called "Uninstall-PlayerKit.exe" directly in the Gothic folder. Maybe you can download the systempack manually, install it again and then uninstall it via this file, this is how I removed the system pack 1.8 when I had a problem. I then reinstalled the system pack again, the problem was the playerskit 2.8, with 2.6f and systempack1.8 I then had no problems.

If the problem occurs when you reinstall the system pack because it is detected as already installed, then only one registry key with all subkeys needs to be deleted.
It is the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninsta ll\GOTHIC2 - The Night of the Raven - 'System Pack'.

Just some additional input, although the issue is already solved:

I installed the Steam edition, then simply installed Union straight onto it without issues and all union plug-ins I use are working totally fine!
So maybe you also could've just installed Union without deleting any files or uninstalling anything.
Since Union includes SystemPack, it will probably just overwrite all SystemPack files anyway

I have just tested this:
I could install Union1.0m with Systempack1.8 without errors, but at least the SystemPack.vdf remains then in the folder Data, because Union creates the Union.vdf.

Mhh.. yeah I tested this myself and the SystemPack.vdf isn't created by Union.

No idea how the vdf's are managed since both are loaded automatically by the game.
I did one firemage playthrough with the Gold Remastered mod and currently in Chapter 3, Paladin run with just the minimod balance 2.6 from the Gold Remastered, without the graphic/world stuff.

No issues at all! But uninstalling SystemPack first, like you described how to do, would be better I guess
