Day Night Bug - Please Help!

    Hello,

I live in Sweden and bought my Gothic 3 (standard version) last week. So far I haven´t been able to solve the Day/Night winking bug so if someone could help me with this I would be grateful

The problem is that day and night switches with 5-10 second intervalls and so does rain/sun etc. This renders the game unplayable.

Some people have suggested that this is an AMD Dual Core problem but I am running an FX-55 processor which is not a duel core. I have installed patch 1.08 and the pcsupport file from the DVD as well as the Direct X 9.c during the installation but with no success.

Is there some way to turn off the day/night cycle?

Looking forward to getting some serious hints on this one

    Trevor

do have the new patch of G3 installed? Patch 1.08
I looked at your system and there are enough people with the same specs adn they dont have that problem, maybe reinstaling the game would help?

by the way there is a spell which can be used to change night to day have you ever used that spel?

I had the same problem but I was casting the day and night spel ,but that happened once,so recasted the spell and everything was fine again.

otherwise I would`nt know how to help you m8,I`m sorry

btw have you updated your processor with the official drivers?

Yes, i have updated the CPU drivers which was a hint i found in another forum. No change.

I´m running an AMD FX-55, ATI x1900 xtx 512 Mb, 2 Gb RAM, Soundblaster Audigy, Windows XP SP2 and the newest Catalyst.

I have reinstalled the game once and after that installing patch 1.08. Day/Night still changes as quickly as before. Think i´m now 300 days into game time after playing 1 h or so. This really drives me crazy.

Am i really the only single core AMD user with this very annoying bug?

    Hoping for more good hints

It seems so, sorry. Have you done something "special" with your system (Like overclocking maybe)?

No, no overclocking. Reinstalled Windows XP two months ago but have run Oblivion, Spellforce 2, Titan Quest and other games since then with no problems (except for known common bugs).

Aaaarghh....The game is straight out of the box. Just installed, patched and started (tried also unpatched and 1.07 before current patch). And as mentioned, i´ve run the pcsetup file from the DVD but not the dual core optimizer which i cannot imaginge would solve anything.

Is there anyway to manually turn off or adjust the day/night cycle? The weather is also changing very rapidly which is equally annoying.

    Buuhuuu.....help!

    Trevor

    Edit:

I have now reloaded the game 10 times with different detail settings. One time i manage to get the time to move at normal speed but once i started killing the three bandits by the lighthouse the time speeded up again and days/nights went back to being 5 seconds long or so.

This is so strange. Can somebody please give me some hint about what to do? I´m going nuts trying to solve this one.

    Thank you in advance

    Trevor

I know this won't help you at all but... you're not alone. Get the same annoying problem on my computer. The calendar and day/night gets all f****d up and the character seems to be on speed during the day-night shift phase. Makes it all completely unplayable and the game either goes back to the shop or maybe I'll put it on hold for a few more days until someone comes up with a good idea. And no, F6 don't help much.

So far the bug shows its ugly head approx 3 hours into playing so I'm gonna try reboot and fire up the game again...

Info: Running the 1.08 patch on an AMD Athlon 64 FX2 dual core (4600+) I also have a Radeon X1900XTX graphics adapter. Also, Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty sound card all on a MSI K9N SLI motherboard with 4GB RAM. Using latest drivers of course. Windows XP Pro SP2 (English).

    To WernerTWC:

I´ve seen that one but unfortunately it focuses once again on dual core optimization. Tried to install that last night (even though i´m running single core) but it didn´t change anything.

    To Merida:

A lot of commands but i can´t find any that seem to normalize day/night cycle. Any suggestions? It seems a little awkward that one should need to enter some cheat mode to make the game work but i´m prepared to do just about anything now to get this thing going...

Please also look at this "http://forum.jowood.com/showthread.php?t=127413" to get more info on the problem. They focus on the weather change but i imagine that if one can slow down time both Day/night and weather will be normal...

Looking forward to more hints, thank you all for helping

I did find the AMD patch info at midnight last night and since the bug don't happen (for me) until 3 or 4 hours into game play I didn't have time to verify the fix. Didn't get the dual core optimizer at that time. Will install it and start the game up and let it "idle" for the 3-4 hours... tonight is UEFA Champions Leaugue night so gaming gets 2nd priority "only". Go Liverpool!!

I don't feel to confident installing the Microsoft non-published dual core hotfix (kb896256) so if I can avoid it I'm happy.

    Thanks for the tip.

For me, the problem starts immediately when starting a new game or loading an old one. Have noticed that when reinstalling the pcsupport drivers from the DVD i can usually run the game with normal day/night cycle for two minutes or so before it goes back to mayhem speed.

Please keep the good advice coming, i appreciate it a lot

That was meant for Vegard, because he stated his dualcore cpu.

Please also look at this "http://forum.jowood.com/showthread.php?t=127413" to get more info on the problem.
Seems like a bios-update can fix that problem. Are you experienced in bios-updates and such, do you know which verion you have etc...? Which motherboard do you have?

And you know what... it seems to work. Game running for six hours now and running beautifully.

Installed the two patches and the Registry registration file. Didn't install the Microsoft hotfix and it seems ok anyways.

Thanks for the help, I'm now happily beating up orcs.

Well i´m not very experienced in updating bios but it still sounds strange that this could be the case. Running PC games for 12 years i never ever had to upgrade bios to make something work.

Well, if this is the only way to go - Anyone have any hints about updating the Bios? Unfortunately i´m at work right now so i can´t give you the bios version but i´ll get back with that later.

Still would be happy for some more hints about the day/night weather ultra speed bug!

To check what bios and other system-infos you have, use everest home, you can send me also a report.

    download this tool:
EVEREST Home Edition(Click there on "Jetzt herunterladen", means download now.)

Then install it, start it, choose in the "report"-menu (Bericht) "Quick-Report - All Pages" (Schnellbericht, alle Seiten) -> "Plain text" (Vollständiger Text).
Prog is working, wait a while, when it´s finished click "save to file", and save it.
You cannot post the whole report here, because it´s too long, so upload it somewhere, or send it to me
    with email

One person at another forum mentioned that he pressed F6 in the console to adjust time speed. Has someone here done this? In that case how is it done? How do i access the console (swedish keyboard). How do i know what time speed is correct? Is there anyway to do this in the .ini file so the value is correct already from the beginning.

    Thank you

    Trevor

You don't have to bring up the console, it should work by simply press f6 while in dev-mode, how to activate:

After some searching,... could it be that you mean:
    ASUS A8R32-MVP
    instead of
    ATI A8R32-MVP?

    Check with everest!
