[Release] Gothic Deluxe Edition
Mod-Fix English Edition
Type:Large Patch
Platform: Gothic
Latest version:1.01
Authors: ElderGamer, GaroK (translation)
Language: English
Original thread:⠀https://worldofplayers.ru/threads/36812/

Description:
Mod-Fix also known as Deluxe Edition is a vanilla-friendly modification that aims to be more polished version of Gothic I, without changes or additions that are too obtrusive. Something that the original game could have been if Piranha Bytes had more time to polish the game. At its core it's just good ol' Gothic, but with lots of small changes, so that even veterans of the game will be able to find something new and refreshing.
Mod was originally made by ElderGamer, and is very popular choice in russian community as the way to play Gothic.
Features:
- Alchemy
- Pickpocket from Gothic II
- Abandoned Mine as tutorial level
- Some of the items received new models and textures (therefore we advise to not install any other texturepacks)
- Some dialogues have been rewritten and redubbed using voice actors
- A lot of bugs fixed
- ... and tons of other, smaller things that we encourage you to find on your own
Useful info:
Notes:
There are some issues with DX11, like changing enemies size, wall writings not displaying, items used by NPCs duplicating endlessly, weird controls, etc. Therefore we don't recommend using it.
A lot of players are wiping out the Orc Town as soon as it's possible. In this mod we would like you to hold with that until you get Ulu-Mulu and visit the town in peace.
Bench in the starting area is very comfy

This is crazy good news, gonna check it out soon!

This is one of the best (if not THE BEST) mod of its kind for Gothic, daddios and mommas. I played it long time ago and it was one of the pieces of inspiration for me to start YAUP. Also, if there's D36 nickname anywhere in the credits section, you know this is "gonna be gud", since she's an absolute beast of logistical and scripting consistency. Finally, if you can't find no "1" nowhere in the title for the very first game of PB homies, then you know the people behind that thing actually paid attention to the source material.
For those with wet noodles for brains: I said it's a 11/10 mod.

This was the best Gothic 1 balance ever. It is pure perfection of balance. It doesn't alter the normal gothic feeling in any way keeping as true as possible, but it does make the much needed changes like, making ore (curency) meaningfull, skills like picklocking important as well, and forcing you (As is clearly logical) to specialise in a field. Gone are the days when you could be a wimpy master of the two handed fighting while only having 20 strenght for example. XD This is pure and complete awesomeness! Thank you for the pleasure of playing it!
And those voice actors. XD Fantastic work!

Feels very authentic.
I've played mod-fix once as a DEX character, and now as a STR/Mana (Sect) character, and lastly I'll be playing through with just magic if I can swing it. I'm not exactly a huge veteran, but I can see the improvements this makes. The starting bench allows you to customize your experience if you want (such as changing lockpicking back to the old system) so really sit down with the options and see what works for you.
I know as someone newer to Gothic I don't really have much to say that others probably would say better, but it feels like this would be a good "base" to build mods off of, because of all the quality of life changes and everything else that's been done in the name of making the game just that much better.
One thing I will note is that the alchemy system is a bit tough to get into. You need 20 Alchemy (invisible stat) minimum to start and books only give like 3. So it's tough to get even started with it. You have to collect other books which aren't immediately apparent as to where they are. But it does give you a reason to hold onto those healing herbs and use them to make stronger healing items.
I've tried Unpatch, a bit of Definitive Edition, a bit of Golden Edition, and now mod-fix. I'll be using mod-fix for G1 for the foreseeable future, but I only have a few runs left before it's on to G2.
Edit: After some further exploration the alchemy system is actually pretty easy to level up, it's just the things that are required also can give permanent buffs. Look for books! The system is neat and you can get some extra pots this way.

Fellas, does this include better controls like in this fix here? https://www.gog.com/forum/gothic_ser...rols_in_gothic
and does it work with the "remaster mod list" by sinitar? apart from the dx11 of course! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=put8Ys4tq6Y

I wouldn't call "one click action" better controls, it's preference. Nor it's something that you "fix"(because it's not broken), but patch.
But to answer your questions...
1. No, but I guess there is some way to enable one click action in Gothic.ini.
2. I guess it works, but DX11 already is breaking some things, and the texture packs will definitely overwrite the texturepack this mod already includes, so you don't need that.
I would recommend playing the mod vanilla, the game didn't age too bad, or at best with DX11, but be aware of the bugs like certain writings not showing up, some small enemies being scaled into big ones, etc

Sinitar's whatever about Gothic is outdated by now; you don't need separate PlayerKit, SystemPack, and 4GB Patch. You install both Union's main assets, and you got these mentioned three with as much as four clicks (plus many more and better fixes too).
I personally wouldn't use any guides from YouTube regarding Gothic from before 2021 and/or any Spine mod manager since both are songs from the past that are habitually forced by the community that didn't revision its own solutions since 2010s or so. We got more polished, better documented, and/or freshly newer solutions by now.
P.S. DX11 any version I ever saw and/or used is still pretty beta even in 2021.

Check this guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/worldofgoth...odern_systems/
It's up to date and is continously updated when anything new comes up.

Maybe you would like to update the section for SystemPack, since I believe Union v1.0j was made fully compatible with Wine emulator for Linux (since I can't recall I ever saw a native Linux installer for Gothic and/or Night of the Raven games). Maybe add one more point to the list, for Linux only. Also, we already have Union v1.0k released, by the way.

I know, but I don't really know how it works. I couldn't even get resource manager to run on Linux.

Especially for such incidents, on Russian forum with union you can download offline installers.

Unfortunately not the new version 1.0k

Because the 1.0k changelog hasn't been compiled yet, we'll add everything as soon as it's ready.

But you still need to figure out how to run these installers? Or will they run fine on linux?

Those offline installers are exactly the same as the ones D36 is using in her stuff; you linked said stuff in the first section of your guide, manny. It's safe to assume that Linux users can install those via whatever commands they usually use in Wine (don't ask me, I never used Linux or Wine) and it will work the same as installing both Union components via the Resource Manager.
