Da nur Übersetzungen ins Englische wirklich gut funktionieren, halte ich den Rest dieses Threads in Englisch. Deutsche Erklärungen oder csvs folgen vielleicht auf Wunsch.
Since Sargon didn't make a thread about his tool in this forum and it thus being so underappreciated I decided to make a thread for it.
EGMT is a simple tool that creates automatic googletranslations of G1 and G2 mods in minutes and is also much more convenient for creating manual translations than the conventional method.
Here's a quick guide on how to use it:
1. Download the tool from
https://worldofplayers.ru/threads/41696/#post-1078975
2. Unpack the archive and start Easy Gothic Mod Translator_V1.0a.exe
3. Choose the language of the mod and the desired language and press the big button.
4. Databases:
You can either use no database or (it it exists) one of the base csvs linked below. The (dis)advantages are as follows:
- If you use a base csv, you will have a professionally created translation for many of the basic terms and all the standard phrases will remain familiar.
- New dialogues may not refer to items by their official translation. For example if an NPC says in German "Bring mir einen Kronstöckel." the translation will be "Bring me a corolla." and there will be no way to know that it refers to the item called "King's Sorrel".
5. Click "Load Mod-file" and enter Gothic II/Data/modvdf and select the mod file containing the scripts.
(If there is more than one file, the file containing the scripts is usually either the newest patch file or contains scripts in its name. In some mods the menu.dat and gothic.dat are in different files. In that case simply do everything once for each file. I've as of yet encountered one single mod that split up gothic.dat and ou.bin and required me to rebuild the volume with GothicVDFS.)
6. Start the Google Translation and wait. Save the database in DB format and make sure it ends with "_en.csv" (or whatever your language code is). If you do another translation import it at the start of this process.
If you translate too many mods at once, Google will temporarily block you. Reset your IP or wait a couple of hours.
7. Click "Translate Mod", check "patch only" and raise the date by 1 day (or more) and save the file in Gothic II/Data/modvdf again.
8. Go to Gothic II/System and open the ini-file of the mod. There is a line like
Code:
VDF=MOD_XY.mod MOD_XY_Speech.mod MOD_XY_Font.mod
add 2 spaces and MOD_XY_patch_en.mod, so it becomes
Code:
VDF=MOD_XY.mod MOD_XY_Speech.mod MOD_XY_Font.mod MOD_XY_patch_en.mod
9. Upload the *_patch_en.mod file and ini file, if you want to share the translation.
And here's how to do a manual translation:
1. At the Google Translation step press the "Skip" button and check "MT" and press the big "Export Database" button. You can close the tool for now.
2. Download
https://sourceforge.net/projects/rec...atest/download and install and run it.
3. Go to the csv file you just saved, in the right window select "Unicode CSV", "<None>" after "Quote" and press "Edit".

4. Go to the last tab and edit all the lines that are still in the original language with your translations. Note that you can't leave a field empty or it will use the untranslated text.
5. Save the database and restart the tool and import this new database.

Base CSVs are simple but tedious to create. Basically do the same steps as in the manual translation, but copy&paste from one csv to the other.
