If Piranhas don't hold the rights to Gothic Sequel, and you don't know yourself who does, what gives you the idea that we, the public domain, don't?

Public domain means that a work can be used by anyone because it is no longer subject to copyright protection. In Germany copyright arises with the creation of the work.

Just because we do not know who hold the rights to Gothic Sequel does not mean it is public domain. Copyrighted works in Germany become public free 70 years after the death of the author.

Why do you all insist on calling this data "illegal"? Will cops kick down your door if you're in possession of something that wasn't published by the supposed copyright holder? But you're saying PB holds no rights to these files. Then why are they circulating on the internet behind closed doors?
