Can someone explain to me, how damage is calculated in this mod?
I am equipped with a 115 damage sword but I am still dealing minimum damage to monsters/enemies unless I'm critting. How is that possible? Why would a Lurker/Wolf/Bandit with 25 blade armor take 15 damage from a 115 damage weapon?
I understand that there is a min damage on every hit. Is that also your max weapon damage unless you hit the emey with a crit? Meanwhile my bow one shots pretty much every critter even with 5% crit chance.
In Gothic 2 (NOTR included) damage is calculated as follows:
Melee: (weapon damage + strength)/10 - armour, minimum 15 in Hiver, on normal strikes
weapon damage + strength - armour, minim 15 in Hiver, on critical strikes
Ranged: weapon damage + dexterity - armour, there are no criticals, skill determines distance at which you hit
Magic: spell damage - armour, no criticals
Please note that it doesn't matter if you use a dex based sword or a strength based crossbow, damage uses strength for melee and dexterity for ranged.
You most likely heavily invested in strength and not in weapon skill
Ok thanks.
Makes sense that I am doing minimum damage against 25 armor enemies with 85 Str and a 115 weapon and 30% skill. It just felt incredibly strange to me, that I am dealing the same amount of normal hit damage with a 10 dmg heavy branch and a 115 dmg massive 2-handed sword.
Ok thanks.

Ye and this is a bit fucked up.. I'll probably change how it works with 1.7 (i was already working towards it )
Played this Mod for 20 hours the past few days and let me start this off by saying that so much of this mod is absolutely brilliant, the crafting, the graphics, the world design, it feels like a remaster and it is just such a joy to experience.
I wanted to share a few ideas and thoughts about the changes to the move sets of some enemies (Wolves, Shadow Beasts, Orcs namely)
It's probably a slow process to add to the game, so that the combat is more varied and less predictable. However I do wonder if making Orcs this much stronger, by making them fight both more defensively (no running attack), while also having them do almost guaranteed jumping damage, isn't affecting the progression in the game too much.
Taking down a orc always felt like a test of skill and power you can perform naturally as you started to encounter them. But right now, they are a massive gear and level check. Considering how much of the combat in the game is against orcs, I think, it would be amazing if you could dial back the difficulty a bit and find a balance between the menace of an Orc and them still being a enjoyable part of the progression fantasy (especially for melee characters).
Shadow Beasts are also in a weird spot. They are fast and threatening and you can still dodge their attacks, but their delay on their follow up attacks after say a charge is so low that getting a hit in yourself, will inevetiably lead to you getting hit in return. Again I would suggest to dial their attack speed back just a bit, so you still have to fight very precisely and be careful, but you can be rewarded by not just taking down a Shadow Beast, but also doing so without taking massive amounts of damage in return.
To anyone that took his time reading this, thank you and stay safe ^^
p.s. Thank you Kirides for the translation script!
*edit: I managed to get my hands on the OrcSlayer Sword and gotta say, with it Orcs are challenging but manageable. And I loved the Idea of having certain weapons for certain situations ever since Dark Souls, so I am happy about Orcs now

Thank you, trying my best
Orcs gets easier and easier every level up you make, they start doing that leap attack less often, which deals i think 50 damage or something and it can't kill you, at worst leaves you with 1 hp but you can turn the fight with that (or if you have HP regen, heal back up ) but i see what you mean, i'll give them a look and see how they could be nerfed just a little bit
And yes maybe Shadow Beasts (also Trolls) are a bit too strong, crossing the "broken ass" line i plan on tweaking them a bit thank you for your suggestions!
Hey, a quick crafting question. I am trying to craft Elegant Bastard Sword, and failing bad at that The recipe states 'Amber Dust', and when actually trying to craft it, the men shows 'Diamond Dust'. I only have 'Diamond Fragments' and 'Amber Fragments'.
Is there a way to 'grind them down'? Or am I missing something

The Diamond dust is a small text error i made you need amber dust and to get that you can either buy it or you can find / buy an amber and pulverize it. To do so just go to the closest Enchanting Table (probably inside Selivan's magic shop) and you'll find the option

Thanks a lot! Will try out as soon as Im in town Im having a blast so far. Last time i played gothic was some 16-18 years ago so I pretty much remember nothing. So far lvl 17 militia, still chapter 1 (Im a guy who always postpones the main quest as much as possible).
While we're at it - whatsup with dismembered bodies? (I have never played Night of Raven so not sure if it's part of the L'Hiver)

Very good level right there
Dismembered or Rotting corpse and such are a new addition of L'Hiver, they just give you experience when you burn them with a torch the more you find, higher the exp you'll get for burning them so it's basically a mini-hidden quest to find them all and get all their exp

Got it Im pretty sure I could still rack up couple of more levels if not for orcs those tend to gang up on me, and it feels I need an armor upgrade

Wäre im Endeffekt auch super wenn du im Anschluss die Datenbank dann auch mit veröffentlichst.
Ist dann für weitere Versionen der L'Hiver Edition bestimmt mehr als Praktisch.

Them corpses idea is extra swell. I already have a creative spin on that - bones sets (skeletons) that are "takeable" into the inventory, and the player can bury them in Khorinis' mass/public catacomb/crypt/vault. More sets means more experience, and mages can even perform an Innos burial ritual or shit like that for even more experience.
