Hey, I have some trouble figuring out how to achieve a texture blend like the Piranhas did. The Piranhas laid two faces ontop of each other, but one of them connected to the rest of the mesh only on one side and darkened on the other. I can do that by duplicating the faces, merging the vertecies on one side, selecting the ones on the other side, pulling them up, painting them, and pulling them down again. There has to be a faster way to do this. Anybody has any idea? Maybe a way to only vertex paint the selected faces without doing "collateral damage" on the rest?

This question is specific to the 3D editor that you are using. So you can probably best get an answer in a forum for that software.

Most 3D editors have a built-in scripting language (Python for Blender, MAXScript for GMax and 3ds Max). It is probably easy to write a little script (and put it on a hotkey) that paints all vertecies black that belong to the currently selected edges. This way you would only need to select some edges and then press your hotkey.
