    what are the most useful spells for a fighter?

    Hi again Forum Folk,

    So - I found out a couple of days ago that in G3 chests do not have fixed contents except for the special items in Old Chests etc. I'm kind of going for a 'best out of three' tries at each chest (not the way a purist would play, I know, but I enjoy rolling the dice). This is often making me weigh one set of spell scrolls against another.

    I'm going for fireball, undo locks, ice lance (was useful in NotR) and the curative scrolls like heal poison (sorry I can't recall what the game calls it). Oh, and Telekinesis.

    What other spells would be most useful to a fighter who only uses magic rarely or when forced to use it e.g. on locks?

    I have a scroll called Fire Wave: how well does that work in G3? In NotR I found Ice Wave pretty useless - maybe I was using it incorrectly, but I couldn't see the point of it.

    Also are there quests where you absolutely can't finish the quest unless you have s particular spell?

    Sorry, I know these are big questions, I'm not looking for exhaustive lists or anything, just some tips on what to go for.

    The only use ice wave really had was to freeze bigger groups of enemies so you could take your time to attack them, just like ice block.

    If I remember correctly the Fire Wave scroll by far isn't as strong as the stronger fire spells in Gothic 1 or 2, but definitely useful.

    Fire Wave disappointed me when playing as a mage. It never really hit the enemies, but somehow seemed to "miss" them magically.
    Anyway, Fire is for destruction and ideally has the enemy far away. Fire Wave but occurs within a short range. It also cannot be spelled around certain enemies as was introduced by the CP fpr most spells, but always around the hero himself.

    For short distance one needs some spell to immobilize them, which is in the ice-line.

    But i do not know how that might be from a close-combat-figther's perspective.
