Let me try and add a bit of background to why we chose to release our content in smaller increments than we did in ME3:
The question comes down to: Do you want to get a lot of presents in one day, or gain one per day for awhile? Each has its advantages and disadvantages.
Big content drops: Causes spikes of interests and re-engagement, but can also cause players to quickly find one thing they like and ignore the rest.
Small content drops: For the engaged players this is something to look forward to, happens a lot more often with shorter intervals and let's each piece of content shine in the spotlight a little longer. The hope is that this will give each piece of content more playtime in the end.
For MEA we chose for a gradient of having something new daily (APEX missions) / weekly (Weekend missions; Equipment rotation) / Monthly (Characters, Guns, and Patch content).
