    Exclamation Gothic 2 NoTR/Gold Edition L'Hiver EN Edition problem

    Hello everyone!

    I am new to the forum. Well, let's get to the point..
    I own Gothic 2 Gold Edition on Steam, the game worked perfectly fine with g2notr system pack,2.6.00 rev2 fix and player kit until I chose to mod it (I have not installed mods before). I've been following the instructions from this video for G2 L'Hiver EN mod [Here] with DirectX 11, highres textures etc., all looks good but it looks like I have to start Gothic 2 with GothicStarter.exe, not a big deal BUT the game crashes after it nearly finishes loading (you can hear the background music though) and get this error.

    Any ideas what might cause the error?
    PS: I am running the game on Windows 10 64bits.

    Hmm, try to start the game as Admin, maybe this could help.

    I've always ran the game in Administrator mode and tried compatibility mode for XP and Vista too. Same error. If I start it without the GameStarter.exe an error will pop up saying "Failed to find the Game-Executable! Continuing without version-check..."

    I've reinstalled the game about 3 times now, both english and german versions (even though I am not that good at german) but yeah, same error literally.

    Edit: I hope to hear good news from you (hopefully). I just thought about it but would I need the german language pack to run the game with the mods in case I install them in german?

    Update: Asked some people around and it looks like those who own Gothic II Gold on Steam should disable SteamOverlay so there is no Access Violation error. Another thing I found is this. I will try both fixes tomorrow (today) and post feedback if it works or not or if something new pops up.

    Question

    Obviously disabling steam overlay was not going to fix it.. moving on to the other fix.. well, it does not look like it worked, instead I got this, get a black screen then this...
    PS: already have downloaded the .dll file and put it in the exact directory and even in the Gothic II system folder..

    Update: I replaced the ddraw.dll file from that fix with the original one, the game opens as it should but still crashes when I try to start a new game, it loads about 99% or even 'finishes loading' but I can still see the loading screen then I can see my cursor then the error pops-up.

    Alright, it looks like the game will run if I install the mods in german..
    On the other side, I've reinstalled Gothic II again this time with the EN mods, used 2.6 rev2, playerkit2.6f and systempack1.1, then extracted the EN L'Hiver mod to the G2 root folder, installed D3D11 X17.1 and it downloaded the textures for me as it should. But the downside is that the game still crashes after just loading, I can not see the characters only the loading screen, music in the background as usually and the Access Violation error.

    I literally followed the instructions to the book but the EN version just doesn't seem to work, only the german version but I have like 6fps in Xardas' Tower and about 20fps outside so the game is unplayable...
    Any ideas what might cause the error with the EN version?

    Hello! I am in dire need of some help!

    I am experiencing an issue with D3D11 mod in both Gothic 1 and Gothic 2 NoTR.

    After few seconds my game crashes with error
    Device Removed! (DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG)
    In worst case scenario my PC crashes/freezes and I need to restart it. This is my graphic card: http://www.gigabyte.pl/products/page/vga/gv-r787oc-2gd/
    Altough my friend experiences same issues as well, so I have no idea whether it's my graphic card fault or something else.

    Is there any solution for this? I would appreciate any help

    I have tested this a bit, and found at that tesselation is most likely the cause of that. I flew around in camera mode with and without it, and once I turned it on and moved a bit faster, game crashed with the 'device removed...' error. I really hate that, because tesselation makes a HUGE difference in the way the game object looks.

    Is there a way to make d3d11 tesselation not screw up my graphic card and PC?
