I can't tell you when this bug exactly happens... unfortunately for us it's random. Usually, this bug shows up when you speak with an NPC and after try to use your weapon+shield, or when you load a savegame. These are the only 2 situations that come to mind.
For example... in the Sleeper's Temple, almost everytime i spoke with a Shaman, after the dialogue when i had to face it, the bug showed up.

I'll look more into it.
Meanwhile... what about some more shields?
this is a real Christmas present!
In my opinion is a better position, isn't?

Not very healthy for your spinal cord, I suppose
But yeah, some of the new shields will have that position...

Well... as usual, unpredictable stuff has delayed me.
Still working at the next release... some cool shields are already in place, a few helms are waiting for a good spot to be placed into... and I'm polishing everything else.
Hope you all will have an wonderful year!

Hey guys,
Just installed G1 again for a new playthrough.
Nice to see that this mod is still going strong!
The game plays great with System Pack and Unofficial Patch installed.
Anyhow, I wanted to do a clean playthrough before messing around with mods and installed Unofficial Patch v.04 (bugfix only), but I have a couple questions:
1. The EN_G1_UnPatch_src file should be unzipped and moved to the _WORK folder in Gothic 1 directory? The installation instructions do not cover that.
2. Just noticed this restored NPC named Fox on the Old Camp. This guy has no dialogue options and talking to him only shows "ENDE" in the dialogue window (the ENDE wording I belive is a typo that comes from the german verison? makes sense?). Is this lack of dialogue options a bug or is it how it's supposed to be? Felt kinda strange to me since almost every single npc has something to say to you at the Old Camp, even if it's to tell you to go away.
Thanks!

The scr files can be used to compile your own version. Indeed, you extract them to _WORK folder, and you can use Spacer with the option compile script files.
Fox was in an earlier version, but cut off later. We don't know what was his purpose, or if he had dialog lines. In my latest version you can trade with him.
Lately, I hadn't the time to work on the patch. All I did was to add a few new shields, and the FreeAiming option. Maybe tomorrow I'll release a preview... but I don't promise.

Thank you for the prompt answer.
I tried to mess around with these files and to install the Mod Development Kit, but I could not get it to work cause I get an error as soon as Spacer II launches that says "Spacer II has stopped working".
I followed the instructions below, but it seems I did something wrong.

To test the changes you need the Mod Development Kit. Extract it to a fresh copy of Gothic 1, and replace the German script files from the MDK with the English ones. Than you can use the GothicStarter_Mod from PlayerKit to recompile the scripts (check "Reparse Scripts"). And don't forget to check "VDFS Physical First" before compiling.
Are there any other (easier, lol) ways to add/remove files from the patch? I tried to edit the EN_G1_UnPatch.mod and EN_G1_UnPatch.vdf files with notepad, but that seems to break the whole thing.

You need Spacer, not Spacer II.
You can extract the mod or vdf files using GothicVDFS II.

@catalinux
I played your patch and am very impressed by your work. Would you allow me to install your patch in my german mod?
In my opinion, your patch is the best for Gothic I've played so far.
Great work
Are you planning to add pickpocketing features (based on the Balancing 08 Mod) for the future?

Sure, no problem.
I'm sorry I don't have for the moment the time to work on it, to polish a few features. On my HDD I have a newer version with FreeAiming (loved it in Gothic3) but I want to add a few new things before I will release a new version...
I haven't played the Balancing 08 Mod, I don't know what pickpocketing features it adds, but I'll look into it at some point.

In return, I can offer you some of your scripts in englisch/german. I collect them in a zip-file.

Hi Catalinux,
[Bild: UnPatch.jpg]
The german translation of your Mod is finished. You can copy the scripts by using the german installer.

Hi, can we expect future updates?

Hi, can we expect future updates?
Yes, at least one update is planned because of the error in the dialog with Ratford. But the update may take some time. At the moment I play the mod completely for the first time to find more mistakes in the german version.

Are there more helmets in the mod? (in boxes or inventories)

Hello Inspirate,
In the latest version on my patch there is only one other helmet, the MALEDRAUGRHELMET (in the Abandonedmine).
I haven't worked on the mod or played it for months, and I don't remember if there are other helms in the waterfall cave...
I plan to release an update for the end of this year. I'll soon look into your German patch!

I have no idea if I sent a PM correctly so I'll ask here too.
"Could you please share your latest version of the Quick Patch with Free Aiming"?
-
hi catalinux,
i really hope you can release, in the future, a new version of this wonderful work.
