Someone from WOG tested Gothic 3
I found this info on the german part of WOG. I used freetranslation to understand some of the things written, but some I couldn't. This is what I understood: It seems that 2 or 3 members of WOG were chosen by Gamestar to test Gothic 3 and they posted their oppinions on the german forum. Everything is in german, you can use the translator to understand some things, but others are really hard to understand. So it would really be great if someone could translate their oppinions. Thanks.
Here are the links to their posts on the german part of the WOG forum:
- Izzy's oppinions.
- Charon314's oppinions.
- Link found in Charon314's oppinions thread.
-
I don't think that they choosen anybody from the english community

Either you didn't read the whole post or you missunderstood. The three Gothic 3 fans were from the german part of WoG, because they wrote there and also wrote in german.
-
From what I read; it's 6 people, not 2 or 3.
2 people from the german WoG posted their impressions of G3.
-
The Izzy dude has only 20 posts

yeah...but can anyone please translate?i'm dying to hear their opinions

I propose, that you wait until saterday, because you won't know until then whether this report is a fake or not. There is a discussion between two users who claim that they were testers of G3 and that the other wasn't. So you wouldn't get any knowledge from knowing what izzy says until saterday. On Saterday one of the mods (RadicalEd) will be able to verify who is tellling the truth.

First of all, the link to Charon's opinions only points to a thread, not to a particular posting with extended comments.
Here is a translation of Izzy's comments. I ran them through an auto-translator and used that as the basis for a better manual translation (I am a native English speaker). There are some parts that I could not really figure out how to interpret, so I just left those as direct quotes (quotes from the auto-translator, not the original article).
Hello dear Gothic fans!
Last Sunday I had the pleasure of an extensive play of Gothic 3 at Gamestar's local offices.
The 4players article (elkston: refering to a recent 4players.de article that had several criticisms of a supposed alpha version of G3) has made a lot of fans uneasy, so I think it is important that I now share with you my impressions.
First of all 4players definitely did not have the version I tested at Gamestar. My experience with the game is almost opposite to what 4players.de reported in their article. In particular, the AI and game balancing were very convincing.
At 2:00pm, the Gamestar editor entered the room and my pulse was racing! Keep in mind that I hardly slept the evening before despite loud "Aufregeung" (?elkston: not sure of that word).
Because I don't want to spoil the actual story for you, I will focus more on my general gameplay experiences.
The combat system is on one hand more complex than the predecssors and on the other hand more easy. When I engaged two Scavengers in battle, I immediately noticed the AI doing some things contrary to what I saw on the version shown at the office (elkston - not sure what "office" refers to. Maybe a demo was shown earlier at the Gamestar offices?). The Scavengers were qutie smart and coordinated their attacks and took me into the "pliers" (???)
Despite being an old Gothic veteran, it took me a while to become accustomed to the new combat system.
The new inventory system is only average, but in many aspects it is more comfortable than the older games. "Vorallem" with the overview.
In reference to the graphics/visuals:
I don't know where 4players got those screenshots from. At Gamestar the game I played looked overwhelming. (elkston: Overwhelmingly good?). Milton and Diego do not look like mutated Punks. (?) The game was not jerky except for a few times when one was fighting in the cities, however maximum details were on at that time as well. I saw no evidence of the "forner cucumber of the 4players gezockt". Once I was standing in the forest and I could see a Troll hurl a wild pig in the air and it filled me with excitement.
The arena fights impressed me the most because the AI of the human opponents is better than in Gothic 2. It really created the feeling of the movie Gladiator.
The Assasins remind me of the swamp camp members from Gothic I..
I cannot comment much on the perks because I did not have time to reach a high enough level to evaluate them.
The game crashed once during the test, but the pleasing time I had overshadowed that minor event. Indeed Gothic fans will find the atmosphere awesome (I liked it even better than G1).
If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
I know there are some doubts about which memebers actually participated in these game tests. I guess we'll find out eventually if Izzy's comments are legitimate.

from his review for gothic3 it seems there is some weakness specaily in inventory and combat system, i hope they will do something because as i said before the comabt system is not good enough from what i did see from the videos.

Nothing can't be done now. Gothic 3 is Gold, finished, and that's it. We will see on 13 Oktobar how it's done. This guy, if his impresons are real, didnt have much time to play game so coments of inventory and above all combat system are irelevant. The whole Gothic serieas and now Gothic 3 is the game that you need to play for days to truly test it, not just few minuts or hours.
His impresion is overall positiv in my opinion.

in movie combat look verry slow

I'm alright with the combat and the inventory. In the video, the battle looked slow because the user attcked partly (maybe to let us watch the moves of the enemy or the graphics). I think it would be unrealistic if the dual weilding battle was slower than the others.

I disagree. He said the combat took a while getting used to, even though he is an old gothic fan. Meaning it's a challeng => good
The inventroy was adequate, though still better then the previous gothics. Which, imo, sucked espescially in gothic2.
And the reason why the combat seemed so slow in the videos, is mainly because they were showing off a beta version, and every time you pressed a certain key, like 'b' or something, the game opened a debug screen, which used a lot more processing speed. That's what I've been told anyhow, don't have any reliable source.
