    Risen 3 Game Hints
    ===================

Disclaimer: I am not updating this guide anymore as there are better ones out there, and this was only intended as a temporary makeshift guide until better ones surfaced. I can't seem to figure out how to change the title from *Under Construction* to *Incomplete - Shelved*

This is one example of a better guide with maps:
    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=302917806

    Introduction
    -------------
I started this guide from things that I tried to remember from my gameplay, while also gathering other information from the following webpages:

Alchemy Guide - I got alot of my hints from these guys. You could say that I simply translated a bunch of their pointers into English while also confirming it myself in the game. Kudos to them.

A disclaimer about permanent potions - It is fairly easy to max out all of your character's attributes using permanent potions, thereby overpowering yourself. Therefore, use these at your own discretion or not at all if you think that it would ruin your game experience. From what I have read, there are 8 - 10 of each permanent boost plant.

    Permanent Boost Plants
    -------------------------

    Swordthorn (Melee)

    1. Antigua - Just beside a locked chest containing a recipe for a Defence Potion in the shadowlands. The chest is diagonally southwest from the skull cave entrance.

    2. Calador - Up the stairs of a ruined entrance in the northern part of the Iron Woods. Specifically, you first have to get to the northwestern entrance of the shadowlands. Then look for fallen tree over a cascading river and cross it. Then head towards the white arched entrance and from there go straight towards the stairs in between the dark pillars with gold stripes. You will find it at the top of the stairs. (Recipe for a Potion of Blades is nearby, see the reference in this guide.)

    3. Calador - In the western ruins where Eldric asks you to find the grimoire. Located on the upper floor of a tower to where you will need Parrot Flight.

    4. Kila - On the southeastern coastline of the island, straight east of the pirate's beach on the other side of the mountain range.

    5. Tacarigua - In a monkey-only cave behind a shifted closet where you find Governor Di Fuego's corpse inside of Vasco's Tower. (Find the tower by exiting through the northeastern gate of Puerto Sacarico.)

    6. Taranis - In the well just infront of the great hall of the mage's camp. To get here, either jump in the well to land in the water and then swim towards dry ground, or go through the alchemist's backroom in the basement of the mage's camp where you can climb down a ladder and then jump further down some terraces. It will be on the shallow part of the well water. This is the same place where you will find Lami the lost gnome.

    Hunter's Root (Ranged)

    1. Fog Island - **Needs confirmation** In some ruins on the northeast.

    2. Taranis - In a cave where you find the unique sword "Bone Grinder" in the remote western highlands. Once in the cave, the Hunter's Root itself is on the precipice of where you need to use Parrot Flight to travel across the gorge in order to reach the sword. This is where Sharp the demon hunter sends you to retrieve the sword. To reach the cave entrance in the first place, you have to travel through the lower swamps in the west until you reach a series of terraces that you can climb up onto. The starting point of the terraces is straight across westbound from the smallest of the three tree trunks depicted on the map of Taranis.

    Shadow Fire (Cunning)

    1. Antigua - On a small cliff above the western bank of the river flowing just outside of the skull cave entrance. (Soul Lichen is nearby.)

    2. Antigua - Just beside Antigua's Backcountry Teleporter in the shadowlands. This is directly south of the skull cave entrance.

    3. Fog Island - In the center of inside a "stonehenge", sitting on top of the centerpiece rock.

    4. Fog Island - **Needs confirmation** From Domingo once you have killed the soul eater. He will then offer you one as a reward.

    5. Taranis - Just beside Shax's chest where you fight the Shadow Lord of Betrayal.

    Tree Strangler (Influence)

    1. Crab Coast - In a trapping pit where the floor crumbles when heading to the sarcophagus in the ancient temple. You have to cross it once then leave and come back in order for the floor to crumble.

    2. Kila - South of the large gate from the great wall, going up the grassy side of the rock plateau, it will be behind 3 claw monkeys guarding it.

    3. Taranis - Just beside the campfire where Sharp the demon hunter resides in the remote western highlands. To reach here, you have to travel through the lower swamps in the west until you reach a series of terraces that you can climb up onto. The starting point of the terraces is straight across westbound from the smallest of the three tree trunks depicted on the map of Taranis.

    Hero's Crown (Toughness)

    1. Antigua - In a secret location containing a hidden chest with close to 1000 gold from "Romanov's Hideout". You need either a trained monkey or Parrot Flight to get into this location. This is situated roughly halfway between the town of Antigua and the skull cave entrance. The monkey entrance is directly south of a locked chest containing a recipe for a Defence Potion (See the reference in this guide), and the Parrot Flight starting point is 'around the corner' towards the southeast from the monkey entrance, where you should be able to jump onto some rocks that are opposite to an opening into the secret location.

    2. Calador - In a ruined building to the northwest of the cemetery. To reach the ruined building, head north of the cemetery through the crevice, then take the downward path to the right and after jumping over the lava gap, head up through the terraces and then the stairs.

    3. Fog Island - **Needs confirmation** On the northern coast of the island, just by the southwestern shipwreck out of the cluster of other shipwrecks.

    4. Kila - Just outside cave tucked away in an inlet just in front of the great wall (northeastern side of the wall) hidden behind some bushes. This is straight north of the Large Gate Teleporter. (Bloodcap is nearby)

    Thief's Herb (Dexterity)

    1. Antigua - Just outside to the north of Donovan's room. (He's the dead gunsmith lying outside his door when you first enter the town square to fight off the hellhounds.)

    2. Taranis - On one of the alchemist's nursery pots in the basement of the mage's camp.

    Soul Lichen (Magic)

    1. Antigua - On the western bank of the river emanating just outside of the skull cave entrance. (Shadow Fire is nearby.)

    2. Calador - On the roof of the tavern. You can jump off onto there by heading up and around to the elevated ground that the tavern backs up into.

    3. Fog Island - In the center of the island inside a "stonehenge", sitting on top of the southernmost dolmen. (As far as I know, you need Wind Hand [Telekinesis] in order to pick it up.)

    4. Kila - Inside the long and winding spider cave than can be entered straight east from the pirate's beach.

    5. Tacarigua - In a goblin cave to the southeast of the skull cave.

    6. Taranis - On the gap between Talbot's and Paula's house and the mountainside in the mage's camp. This is where you find the "Loud Armadillo" that Paula complains about.

    7. Taranis - Sitting on the windowsill beside the staircase of Rumold's warehouse on the harbor. (As far as I know, you need Wind Hand [Telekinesis] in order to pick it up.)

    8. Taranis - In one of the alchemist's nursery pots in the basement of the mage's camp.

    9. Kila - Next to the Crystal Portal inside Margoloth's cave.

    10. Kila - Inside Margoloth's cave. When exiting Margoloth's inner chamber, keep to the right until you enter another subcave and not far from this entrance you will find it to the right.

    Bloopcap (Spirit)

    1. Calador - On a jumping platform over the lava flow to the north of the cemetery. When heading north of the cemetery, after crossing through the crevice, take the downward path to the right.

    2. Fog Island - **Needs confirmation** On the northern coast of the island, just by the south-central shipwreck out of the cluster of other shipwrecks.

    3. Kila - Inside a cave tucked away in an inlet just in front of the great wall (northeastern side of the wall) hidden behind some bushes. This is straight north of the Large Gate Teleporter. (Hero's Crown is nearby)

    Permanent Boost Potions
    ---------------------------

Essence of Persuasion (Influence) - Directly southeast of the fortress on Calador, on the western side of the lava flow. It is guarded by a lava golem.

    Beverage Recipes
    -------------------

    Recipe for Rum (Health)

    1. Taranis - Besting Roderich at an arm wrestling match. (Tavern keeper at the mage's camp.)

    ----------------------------

The chest will be inside the tower. (Swordthorn is nearby. See the reference in this guide.)

    2. Taranis - In a locked chest (10 lock picking required) on the highest level of the shipwreck in the shadowlands. Unlike what some other guides might suggest, Parrot Flight is not needed to get up on the ship. Instead, just get close enough to the broken floor until the "Climb" option appears. Try moving around to different sections of the floor until this option appears, it shouldn't be too hard.

Recipe for a Potion of Persuasion (Silver Tongue)

    1. Kila - Buy it from Leonardo. (Guardian on the small island where Patty is on. You will find him by going up northwest of Patty.)

    2. Kila - **Needs confirmation** In a locked chest (60 lock picking required) below the rock platform with the dead warriors in the Forbidden Valley.

    3. Calador - In a locked chest (70 lock picking required) near the corpse of Alvito in the iron mine. The mine is to the northeast of the Tavern. This is the same mine that Wilson the smith at the demon hunter fortress sends you to find his apprentice, Alvito.

    1. Tacarigua - Loot Vasco when he's dead. (One of the deserting inquisition soldiers found by exiting through the northeastern gate of Puerto Sacarico until you reach the jungle. Alternatively, just head northwest through the jungle from where you land when first disembarking on the island.)

    2. Taranis - In a locked chest (70 lock picking required) right outside of the house (or what Magnus calls a "mining hut") that is in between the two mines southwest of the mage's camp.

Recipe for a Potion of Magic (Crystal Magic, Rune Magic, Voodoo Magic)

    1. Antigua - Buy it from Emma. (Voodoo merchant on the eastern part of town. She must be rescued first.)

    2. Kila - Buy it from Bahati. (Voodoo merchant at the northeastern section of the native's village.)

    3. Taranis - Pickpocket it from Safi (70 pickpocketing difficulty) in the harbor. (Safi is one of the gnomes who will eventually migrate to the nearby mine when you tell Gadi the other gnome that you have cleared it out.)

Recipe for a Ritual Potion (Alchemy)

    1. Kila - Buy it from Bahati. (Vodoo merchant at the northeastern section of the native's village.)

Specifically, in the room where you have to solve a 3-ring puzzle-switch hidden behind some nearby bushes to open the portcullis. (To help locate this room, use astral vision with the golden prism upgrade and look for an astrolabium.)

Recipe for Shadow Elixir (Cunning) - Buy it from Nergal on Taranis. (Alchemist in the basement of the mage's camp.)

Recipe for Essence of Persuasion (Influence) - Buy it from Tenya on Kila. (Voodoo priestess in the main section of the native's village.)

Recipe for a Tincture of Toughness (Toughness) - Next to a chest north of Leonardo on Kila. (Guardian on the small island where Patty is on. You will find him by going up northwest of Patty.)

Plan (+5 Cunning) - In a locked chest (10 lock picking required) of the upper floor study room housing the Inquisition Commandant Sebastiano on Puerto Sacarico, Tacarigua.

You will find the book on a desk just next to a goldsmithy on the same floor that you first encounter Erasmus the mage. Afterwards, you can find the Vial in a buried chest just northeast from where you land when first disembarking on Tacarigua. Specifically, head straight to the big rock that you see directly north of you, then go to your right (eastbound) around the rock through the shallow ocean water until you see in a yellow flag tucked in a small cove on your left (north side). There should be a red "X" in front of the flag. Dig it up and voila.

Tuning Fork (+5 Spirit) - Behind the northernmost grave stone in a cemetery north of the fortress on Calador.

Sun Crystal (+10 Crystal Magic) - In a chest at the top floor of Zacharias' tower on Taranis. (The head mage of the guardians. You will have to finish several mage quests that involve activating the reactor in order to gain access to this building.)

Ancient Pestle (+10 Alchemy) - Just southeast of a southeastern cave entrance along the southeastern coast of Kila. (The cave is a spider infested den than can be entered straight east from the pirate's beach. Using this route, you will have to deal with the spiders until you reach the southeastern cave entrance. Alternatively, you can swim under the rock arch northeast of the pirate beach in order to reach the southeastern cave entrance without having to deal with the spiders.)

The final Soul Lichen you are missing is between next to the Crystal Portal (close to the Teleporter) inside Margoloth's cave on Kila.

    [Bild: image.png] [Bild: image.png]

And yet another Soul Lichen is inside the Oracle spider caves. When exiting Oracle cave keep to the right until you enter another subcave and not far from the entrance to the right is this Soul Lichen.

I don't get the appeal of using this kind of heavy spoiler material when playing RPGs. Instead of having a mysterious world abound with unexpected new discoveries and challenges on each playthrough, with a constant curiosity on whether there's more to be found, they're reducing it all to a monotonous step-by-step procedure which removes the adventure aspect and inevitably makes them overpowered. Hopefully the people who use resources like this, aren't the same ones who exploit dodge mechanics while complaining about the game being too easy. That being said I realize that many people probably just look up a few ad-hoc things they'd like to know.

Thank you Billythegreat and PowerGamer for your hints. I will quickly update the guide with them, but this will be the last time that I'm updating this guide considering there are better guides out there now with maps and stuff. I'm still trying to figure out how to change the title from *Under Construction* to *Incomplete - Shelved*, so I apologize to anybody who is still expecting an update on this guide, I should've disclaimed somewhere that this was only a makeshift guide until a better and proper one came out.

Link to a new one that was pointed out:
    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=302917806

To Nikolai81: After my first playthrough, I was annoyed that had I leveled up certain attributes too much to use all of the potions that were available to me, since I didn't know how much there was. If something is placed into the game by the developers, then I'd like to use it where possible. It's true enough however that using all of the potions efficiently will eventually max out your character entirely and thereby overpower him, which wasn't my intention during my subsequent playthrough, but it happened. I guess that finding and using all of them wasn't the intention of the developers, but it just happens to be that I'm a person who likes to plan his character ahead and use all of the potential resources in the game in order to advance my character as much as possible. This kind of playstyle obviously doesn't suit this particular game well, so I'd actually suggest to everyone that you use at the most a quarter of the available potions, or none at all for that matter. Aside from that, the main reason for me creating this guide was to help players who get caught up trying to find something even though they have searched everywhere for it, but somehow manage to overlook it. That's when a guide can become a huge time and frustration saver.
