I have no problem with PB supporting only 64 bit, if this will be the case. I personally have used so far only 64 bit architecture, in my case debian amd64.
My question is of interes for a minority of PB fans who are playing PB games on Linux, using WINE. The problem is that as we are speaking we can't install in a 64 bit WINE prefix some of the latest 64 bit redist (dx, vcrun, .net), and this means that we can't play some of the newest games like FarCry4 or The Witcher 3 who are supporting on PC only 64bit Win 7/8 OS. For example, this is the entry on wine appdb for TW3 complaining about vcomp110.dll.
I'm fine with this, I was just curious if PB will also target a 64 bit only Win OS or not.

In Risen 3 there are bigger differences between melee weapons than you think. Month after a game was released i calculated an average of minimum and maximum damage of each type of weapon. Just look at this:
min max average max/min slashing 27 73 50 2,8 sword 31 61 46 2 piercing 35 51 43 1,4
As you can see, slashing weapons are perfect for strong attacks, but their fast attacks are very weak, while piercing weapons are super effective when using fast attacks, but their strong attack aren't that strong. It mean also, that slashing weapons are much better for big and slow alone enemies, like magma golem, but for for groups of fast and little opponents, like sand devils, better to take piercing weapons. Swords are exactly between them, so they are much more universal weapons, but they never be such effective as other type of weapons can be.

I still find the difference to be lacking. I pretty much prefer the sword (fast weak slash + piercing)/ axe(slow heavy slash)/ hammer (slow heavy blunt)/ halberd (very slow heavy slash with range) + bows/crossbows system. That does not prevent fire arms from being in the game. Swords/bows and guns existed for over 600 years together.
I find the 18th century feel to be the most boring possible. It's almost impossible to make a game without having clear inspirations from history. For me, it would be better if they made an early middle age/prehistoric game, or a clearly futuristic one.For the most recent Elex news, the new Piranha Bytes RPG, visit us at World of Elex!!!Geändert von Maladiq (06.06.2015 um 20:13 Uhr)

That's a fair observation, and very astute of you to figure that out. But instead of just a difference of numbers, I want actual functional differences that require significantly different gameplay styles. In your example, the difference for weapons against smaller enemies is almost irrelevant because after investing a bit of skill into any weapon, the smaller enemies will die in 2-3 hits from any weapon either way, and I tend to use at least a slightly charged attack no matter what weapon I have because it more reliably stunlocks enemies of any size or shape.

A worker in the Saratov Refrigerator Factory retired, and a TASS reporter interviewed him on this occasion.
- Tell me, Comrade, do you have a refrigerator at home?
- No, I do not have.
- But you have worked in a refrigerator factory for thirty years, have you not tried to bring home one in pieces?
- I did, but no matter how I put it together, the end result was always a tank.

I don't know what's wrong with me, but when I'm playing a shooter, I always use a AK-47 if it's available. It doesn't matter if there are tons of other "better" weapons available, with a better fire rate, range or damage, I always use the trusty AK-47. And if there is no AK-47, I simply F8 the game in midnight commander.
So if in your next game I'll see this...
Spoiler:(zum lesen bitte Text markieren)
... you know what I will use from that moment on.

Jenny aroused my curiosity even further. New story unrelated to the previous ones, different kinds of locations, ranged weapons different than in Risen 2 and Risen 3 (i really hope it will be bows and crossbows). Moreover Piranhas will be more bold this time, and new informations in this summer
I am hopeful that this will be a real back to their roots with some interesting innovations. I can not wait

The more hyped-up they get us, the more hard it will be to actually meet the expectations. I hope they're aware of that
-
Well, if they decide to abandon the Risen setting and focus on a new IP, I think it will be pretty hard to fuck things up. The only thing they require is to have learned from their mistakes.
1. Have a coherent game world. Stop fucking with the technology from title to title (have progress, but in a logical way, not R1>R2). Stop fucking with the characters (don't butcher them, like they did with Patty and the first hero).
2. Have a gradual increase in the game systems. Don't downgrade the inventory (like they did with automatic provisions, or put inventory crafting). Don't downgrade the combat system (R1>R2 again). Don't downgrade the learning system (again, in-menu learning from teacher learning, bring back the leveling system).
3. Stop using gimmicks. (spell scrolls > voodoo dolls, glory instead of XP etc.)
Now, on the letting down part. I am a hyped, but I also am disappointed.
1. Climbing should be free, or at least they should give an ini option for that).
2. I am really afraid they will have QTEs again.
3. During R2 and R3 I haven't really seen a single truly original game-design choice. Hopefully they will have those now.For the most recent Elex news, the new Piranha Bytes RPG, visit us at World of Elex!!!
