Houston, we have a problem. With the power of overglow. (G3 CP1.74)
Well, I decided to finally get an up-to-date version of G3, and managed to snitch v1.74 (PLEASE, IN THE NAME OF INNOS, DON'T ASK ME WHY NOT 1.75!!)
The game runs somewhat better now, with the same setting as I had in v1.60 medium textures, no vegetation, no overglow effect yadda yadda yadda.
But when I want to activate the overglow AKA the bloom effect G3 demands a restart, but when I reopen it the bloom/overglow setting is back to off.
DAFUQ is with my copy of Gothic 3?? Why does it always reset overglow to off??? I'm about to rage!

I don't know. Try right clicking the Gothic 3 icon on the desktop and selecting properties -> compatibility -> run as administrator, and apply.
Your settings might stop resetting after that.
-
Also, check all your files in the Gothic 3 folder, especially the ini's (are there any of those in My Documents?), and make sure they don't have the flag for read-only. That would preclude the application from saving your chosen settings. Gave me a headache once.

Ok, I'll give it a whirl when I get the chance..

Gah, I checked the properties, but the read-only flag was unchecked. I even tried to alter the INI in the My Documents folder, to no effect.
I'll try the first suggestion, too. Maybe that'll work.

I tried it as an admin, but it didn't work. It only reset all the setting to the complete default, which is to say *LAG LAG LAG*...
Any other 'overglowy' ideas?

Well yeah, that's ok so far. I forgot to specify, after you run as administrator, set your preferences again, and run the game as admin from there on.
-
Well, will the settings save?
