The Azunite Desert? I had far more trouble in the reddish city place you get to later in the game.

The desert was just... so long. It had no freaking end, just... ugh, gives me the creeps! Oh and, the "reddish city" is Zaramoth's Horns... if I'm thinking what you're thinking. That's kind of, the only red city.

BUT, you could refer to the Morden outpost, west of ZH. Innos knows.
